Worked there for 3 years and they discriminate against people with disabilities and different ethnicities.

They do not have information translated so those applying for their programs can understand it.

I asked for ADA accommodations for two years and finally had to threaten to go to the ADA before accommodations were given. Incredibly, they did not have a policy or procedure in place for those requesting accommodations.

The families that apply to the Critical Home Repair Program have been waiting since 2019 in Iredell with no follow up from leadership to families. That was my area, so I kept having to pay them lip service with no explanation.

The work environment is toxic with people being fake and sporting a white savior complex while judging their coworkers and the people we are supposed to serve.

They call it a mission and it is as long as you fit in or fall in line with the rhetoric. They placed most of the black people that worked there in one corner of the office and called it "segregation row." It stayed that way for over two years till someone said they were going to report them to the EEOC.

I've worked a lot of corporate jobs and thought a non profit would be better; it isn't. It just gives people a self righteous excuse to treat others terribly.

They want to reach the Hispanic community because they have less than 1% of them in their program while they encompass more than 14% of the LT population. After 3 years they started translating their marketing tools and contracts into Spanish, everything else is in English and no other language.

There is no one working in either office building that can speak fluent Spanish now that I left.

I've never seen a business run like this. They have a 50 million dollar annual operating budget and the work cell phones get suspended because they haven't been paid. The credit cards declined for the same reason. The same thing happens with their Lowe's and Home Depot accounts. I've been to several "annual" festivities for families that had little to no attendance yet the festivities continued to take place year after year.

The lack of organization, accountability and overall legal operating procedures is shocking.

I was repeatedly bullied by a first time supervisor for over a year, took her to HR 3 times without change and I gave my notice because of this on 10/29. My last day was to be 1/1/2025.

I was repeatedly bullied for forcing my accommodations to the point where I had to explain my symptoms and what happens to me to justify my disabilities. (Really illegal.)

When I decided to leave because I wasn't being supported, I didn't want to leave the department shorthanded and was waiting until the new person was trained. I also told them I was going to report them for discrimination and retaliation.

Once I did that, my separation date was changed to 11/15, which is so illegal it's like handing me a signed, sealed, delivered case to the EEOC.

They like to find people who are highly educated and pay them less than they require their families to make when applying to their housing program.

Oh and this is the cherry on the proverbial cake. - every year since I got there I have had a different title. They change titles and job descriptions each year to encompass the duties they need you to do in addition to your job. Your only choice is to sign it or quit.

They did offer a bonus for $600. To be paid out monthly. I leave that there for people to do the math.

If you're a family or know a family that is going through the programs, if you live in Iredell County, you will not get served and if you do there will only be a couple of you who actually get the work done.

If you're going for their housing program, you will not get in one for at least 4 years. If you can't speak English good luck. FYI they are an Equal Opportunity Housing lender.

Habitat in Charlotte is very expensive. They charge the maximum they can charge for USED, DONATED items. No organization, no assistance. You're on your own.
