What an amazing place!! The views are beyond belief. The access to nature is amazing. This place retains a rustic quality while providing top notch accommodations. The staff is wonderful from guides to hotel. They are so friendly and always there to see to your needs. The fishing both halibut and salmon was fun for sure. The food in the lodge is second to none. If you are lucky to be there when the Old Timers group convenes in their annual meeting prepared to be entertained with stories. Can’t wait to get back.

We loved our stay at the Silver Salmon Creek Lodge! Seeing the bears in the meadows and on the beach was such an intimate and wonderful experience. Our main guide, Rob, was super knowledgeable about the bears, other wildlife, and Lake Clark NP in general and kept us safe. We did a one-night stay at the lodge and we went out 4 times to see the bears (after landing, after lunch, after dinner, and before breakfast the next day). Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable. David and his staff were very friendly. This was a major highlight of our Alaska trip and I've been recommending the lodge to everyone!

What a trip. Not the cheapest one but worth every penny. The chalet we were staying showed its age but Dave and its team are so nice and experienced that you get an unforgettable experience.

The bears,the staff,the food, the cabin were all excellent. There is no other place in the world that can get you closer to wild grizzly bears. A photographers dream.

This is a little hard to give a numerical rating. I attended another sportsman lodge, too, that was slightly different.

If you come for scenery and bears that are "tame" - at least used to humans - this is the place to do so. You will probably get some good shots and not need a high-priced super telephoto lens. The bears can often be seen in the meadow/wetland across the road from the cabins, so you need not travel far to see them.

But remember, the bears, while tolerate of human, are not the cute cuddly things that Disney would portray. The guides will keep the bears safe from dumb humans - and you safe from a mama bear who might think that you are harming her cubs.

The food was very good. You won't feel like you are eating rustic food around a campfire or at McDonald's.

The cabins are each unique. They're more pleasant than rusic. More space than a Motel 6 and probably more comfortable, too.

I can't attest to their fishing option.

The other lodge I visited, the bears were more wild, which can be more interesting, but that is an opinion.

2024 additional review:
We loved it so much we came back again! A great time at both the tent camp and the lodge. This is the best of Alaska!

2022 was our 2nd time at the lodge and their remote camp on Shelter Creek. We're already booking for 2024.
This is a top of the line lodge with great accomodations, gourmet dining, and superb attention to detail from all the staff. Most guests are there for bear viewing, we were there to catch Salmon and were not disappointed.

The best place to have an up-close experience with Kodiak bears. The lodge has been there for 39 years so the bears grew up around it and are very comfortable being themselves and ignoring the people. Guides are great, accommodations are great!
The only word-to-the-wise - if you enjoy a nice cocktail or bottle of wine at the end of the day bring your own. They've just got box wine and beer and limit how many each person can have. But you'll enjoy that one glass while looking out the window AT BEARS! Amazing.
