OK, I was in town on business and decided to stop in for "Happy Hour." Lets just say it wasn't a happy experience. I first ordered a single malt scotch, for which I had to wait 30 minutes for a manager to come and tell me they were out? Really-it's a bar! I settled on a vodka and orange juice for $10.00. The bar was semi-crowded with one bartender and the "manager" who spent more time attending regulars than checking other paying customers. I decided to order fries, which took over an hour and arrived with too much salt. Never offered a refill on my drink, so my friends and I left for our hotel bar. Definitely no plans to return again. Poor service.

Great atmosphere, helpful and funny bartenders. The GM, I think her name was Michelle, came by the table to make sure we were happy. The good, even though slightly overpriced, was nonetheless good and I like the whole farm to table business concept. Very fresh food. We will definitely be back.

Food is good, but way overpriced. $13 for eggs, bacon, and toast Our server struggled when we were the only people in the restaurant; when other parties came in we essentially had to fend for ourselves. Mimosas started out with champagne, then switched to a mix of vodka and sparkling water. Overall, a poor experience.

For starters, I was really excited to go to union social for happy hour and when I got there I realized they didn't have a "happy hour" menu (side note: what restaurant with a bar in DC doesn't have happy hour?). Anyways, I decided to try out the rosemary chicken and to my surprise the food was extremely bland (I even had to ask for salt). The reason Union Social even received 1 star was because the bartenders were SO nice! To those out there reading this DO NOT COME HERE. Save your money and go somewhere else.

A classic, chic American bar that offers great sandwiches and salads. The $1 oysters for Happy Hour were a wonderful surprise. I was most impressed by the honest and pleasant service. Great crab cake sandwich!

Came to watch the Panthers game. Order a ginger apple cocktail, it was really good. Ordered the deviled eggs as an appetizer, they were good, a bit too salty. The bacon plus the existing salt was a bit over-powering. Also ordered a side of brussel sprouts. I eat brussel sprout once a week, so I am quite particular about eating them. They were alright. The biggest problem was that many of them were cut too big or even whole, which made it hard to enjoy. Then, I decided to order the Pomodoro Mussels. I really like mussels but more importantly I love Focaccia. When the entree came, many on the mussels could not be found in their shells, nor in the sauce. Nonetheless it was a healthy portion of mussels. I was again disappointed with the bread, it was very dense and almost cake-like. Not the hot fresh out the oven bread I was anticipating. Additionally, for all the mussels I could find, a good portion of them contained the "sandy" textured that I dread. I am guessing they may not have been cleaned thoroughly. On the plus side, the staff too include my waiter was very attentive, to which I would expect nothing less because there were only 12 people in restaurant.

We live in NoMa and we're predisposed to give the place the benefit of the doubt. There are dtill few full service restaurant and bars in our hood and hardly anything open in convenient walking distance once the office workers go home for the day.

However, this place is sooo uneven and sooo overpriced for the food, service and location. Maybe if you have a large group and are doing sharing?

For a couple of neighbors who wanted to be regulars we find this place a huge letdown, though we are impressed with their nerve-- charging prices as high or higher than those you'll find at other restaurants in better locations that do the same food better with better service.

We do like the mac and cheese and the burgers look good, but I don't think we'll be returning unless they drop the food prices 3-5$ an item and develop the ability to consistently serve you a beer offered on the menu in under 30 minutes.

The happy hour is nice, 5$ beers / cocktail selection. The beer selection is good with a lot on tap. The location is convenient right next to the metro and a nice change of pace for the area.
