July of this year I reached out to the ywca after suffering a 4 year abusive relationship but once I had my son I realized this wasn’t healthy I reached out to the hotline spoke to a woman named Linsey she was so nice & told me they’ll send me a Lyft to pick me I’d stay in a hotel for a few days then be placed in their “transitional housing” place. But before I could leave my abuser took my phone.. I ended up calling a week or more after that was hoping that offer was still available at first they had believe it was.. I left my abuser on the 16th of august the ywca did get me a Lyft food & hotel room for 3 days on my 2nd day my care management reached out & told me took start looking into shelters shelters? I thought this was one WRONG. I did my own research I looked hard remind you I have a baby with me so I was so anxious & scared already for taking this man’s child knowing he would flip but I trusted them & im currently still homeless never received transitional housing I honestly don’t believe it even exists hell one of the hotline workers & my case management told me if I go back at least I’ll be more prepared honestly they set women up to get killed that man would have killed me & they wouldn’t have cared I admit they were nice I mean of course I’d be nice to if I knew I was working a pazi scheme taking money but not applying it & even if I never got the transitional housing it’s still not okay to get women who are already scared & have a hard time trusting people to leave their homes with their kids no clothes just to lie to them thank God for God because idk where me & my son would have been if it wasn’t for calworks not YWCA hey everything happens for a reason but ladies I wouldn’t call them unless you want to be set up to end up missing or dead.
