I love this YMCA! They have so much to offer compared to several other Ys I've been to. I like how the Sauna, hot tub, and steam room are all in child free locations. I also like how there are boy/girl locker rooms and also adult men/women locker rooms.

Great place to get a workout in. My only issue was the cost for a day pass. For 1 day it is $20. I was only there for 2.5 hours to get a workout in. Not worth that much. Otherwise, everything else was good (service, staff, equipment, etc).

After taking the time to pursue new gyms, I have no problem sharing this. The YMCA in Greenville is an absolute ripoff. The equipment is dated, the monthly membership fees are $20 more than most other gyms, even other YMCA facilities, and their schedule is ever changing and impossible to keep up with if you’re an adult that works full time. I slept on sharing this because I didn’t want to come off as biased but at this point, I cannot help it. I have been with Snap Fitness in Greenville for over a year now and the 24/7 hours are perfect, equipment is updated and maintained frequently, the staff is much friendlier, and I’m paying 1/3 less for my monthly membership. Unless you’re going strictly for swimming pool/ hot tub access in the winter months, there’s no point for paying more. Many of my peers have made similar decisions, whether it be relocating to Snap, Planet Fitness in Richmond, or Anytime Fitness in Richmond, IN. It’s a shame to see what was once a pillar of our community dwindle into an overpriced dump.

EDIT: In response to the YMCA’s comment: as a member last year, the online hours on Sunday for the Y stated that the facility closed at 2:00 pm. I was on a treadmill and at 1:08, someone came in saying “I was almost locked in” because they didn’t know I was in there and the facility closed at 1:00. I checked the online hours again to be sure that I wasn’t hallucinating and behold, it said 2:00 pm. So I called and complained because I was frustrated by this. It wasn’t until I called that this was updated. So it hasn’t been “years” because this was in 2023.

Also, the plates in the weight room are rusting, the cables for certain machines snap frequently and have to be taped off and fixed often. I also got impetigo from using a dirty tricep push down machine in the cardio room. Thank you for taking the time to respond though.

A very unsettling place to have your kids daycare. Our 2 year old son Westin has been having some difficulties with sharing with others and being friendly as we have had a lot of different changes and battles to face in our life, me and my significant other recently just bought a home and she just started a new job at fram so there have been a lot of new changes for the kids and mind you they are only 1 & 2 years old both turning 2 and 3 this year in the summer. On 5/1/2024 at or around 2:00 pm we had received a phone call from Brooke’s mom saying that the ymca daycare was trying to get ahold of Brooke who didn’t have any missed calls from the ymca daycare. They were very rude and unprofessional and had informed Brooke that she needed to leave work to get our 2 sons Westin & Aziel and that they was being completely discharged from the ymca daycare because they were , “dangerous threat,” to the other kids. My kids may not be perfect by any means but they are 2 sweet caring kids created by the holy father in heaven. When we arrived to the ymca to get our sons Brooke went inside and as soon as she walked into the room the baby sitter was screaming at our 2 year old son Westin to sit down! Then she became aggressive and hostile to Brooke as she became frustrated with how the baby sitters was treating our kids like any normal parent would the African American baby sitter then proceeded to put her hands on Brooke and then the incident spilled outside mind you Brooke was holding both of our kids at the same time this woman was being hostile towards our children. Then the director of security came aggressively towards our car and threatened me and assaulted me by grabbing my wrists and my son also said the baby sitters were mean to him and hurt him. The security director told me his name was bill toomey but couldn’t make it out in the video
