I was doing a volunteer project for a popular database that helps people find food (as a side note, I am a tech and do database work) and my task was to call a list of organizations and update the information we had on file.

So I called and spoke with an older woman. I told her who I was, that I was a volunteer and the call went seemingly okay until I mispronounced "Carmelitos" when I was trying to verify that I had the correct address on file. The lady I was speaking with went full Karen and lectured me. Told me off. Started yelling. Screaming. Rage hung up on me.

By the way she reacted you would think that I ate her baby or committed a terrible crime but nope - my crime was that I mispronounced the street name. It wasn't even on purpose, I live in Washington state!

If this individual was that triggered because I mispronounced a street name, I can't imagine how these people treat the needy who call for help or food. Sorry to anyone in advance that will need to deal with these people.

WIARO is a great place for youth in need of food. Even more so WIARO has contributed to back to school events for students in need, Christmas gifts for communities of people, not to mention thanksgiving dinners, Mother’s Day luncheons and even helping out the seniors every chance they get. This program is innovate, the team is amazing, and every year for the last eleven years the consistency and dedication to this community is outstanding. For those looking for food, resources, and more, WIARO is a great place to start.

Despite the negative comment that has nothing to do with WIARO, as WIARO are only vendors, not the Carmelotos STAFF, WIARO Continues to give back to community and provide great lunches for the youth.
