Grew up in a Catholic Church my whole life and found that when you really need guidance or support from your founding church that you don't always get a warm welcome. Left church for years and felt a calling to come back after loosing a few loved ones close together. My friend had been inviting me to this church and we came to a few things but then my teen son and I decided to try a Sunday. I had never felt more welcomed with open arms and open hearts. As a single parent, never married I feared being judged and after the first service that was put to rest. So many of these amazingly warm people share their struggles and happy times that my son and I just felt like we were "home". Many times whether listening to a sermon, testimony or hymnal song will bring me to tears, not even for the words but for the raw emotion and overwhelming sense of peace I feel while I'm here. Every Sunday before we are dismissed we are all offered time to speak to a pastor to unburden our hearts or counsel if needed, and I'm just so happy to have someplace that I'm not judged, openly welcomed, and prayed for weekly.
