I have read various stories about social services, but I haven't personally experienced anything or sought help yet. When problems arise, I recommend contacting your local senator or congressman. I’m not sure which one to reach out to first, but it’s important for them to be aware of the issues. They can help initiate services on your behalf. If you don’t bring these matters to their attention, they may not advocate for action regarding social services.

It's essential for everyone discussing their experiences with social services, especially when they feel they haven't been treated well or haven't received help, to start taking note of first and last names and report these issues. For instance, when I contacted the IRS, I saw improvements immediately. It really does work!

Everyone I have spoke with has been very helpful however. For some unknown reason I was sent a new card. No one can explain why. Furthermore I have not yet received it. I had no idea it was ordered until I was standing in the grocery store ready to pay and was told my card had “restrictions” on it. I called in where I was the replacement card… which takes 7-10 business days to arrive. It’s day 8 and still waiting. So the two stars is for their customer service. But why would you order a new card for no reason and without letting the customer know.

While the services offered here are a great resource for struggling families in theory, the way some of the case workers treat people over the phone is dehumanizing, and reflects on a failure of leadership and training within the organization.

A Case Worker Named Victor Tankard, before actually running the numbers on our provided income, instructed us to pay more then we could afford to the utility company, only to then deny assistance based on information he already had. When I asked for an explanation, he was clearly disinterested, and aggravated that I was still on the phone. After determining he was unable to properly answer any of my questions, he muttered a curse word into the phone and hung up on me, and declined my return calls on the first ring.

This is unprofessional, unacceptable, and unethical treatment of families in crisis and reflects disgracefully on the department.

I am a retired nurse and was asked to over the care of four of my grandchildren, ages 2, 13, 15, and 17. I asked if there were any services available to help me since my income had dramatically decrease living on Social Security. I was told by Jessica R. that there were no services available. I did research myself and discovered there is a new program called kinship care that helps offset the cost of raising the children. All Jessika R. CPS Wake County NC, wanted to do was closed the case. She knew I was moving to Onslow county because I could not afford to live in WAKE COUNTY and she even went as far as calling me a perpetrator. I am a well respected, retired nurse, never been in trouble with the law and took in my grandchildren without hesitation, only to be lied to and treated terribly , Jessika came into my home acting like she was so nice and caring, etc. etc. when I found out, she was not a nice person at all. She kept telling me how many years she had in the business and that she was the best of the best, well I totally disagree. When I moved to Onslow County and called the local agency here he told me, unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done due to the neglect, and closing of the Case from Wake County North Carolina. I would like to receive a phone call from someone that could help me figure out what I can do to make sure all the needs are met of the four children that I am raising on a limited income. I was treated like the bad guy in reality, all I wanted to do was love, nurture and care for my grandchildren on a limited income , sincerely, Jacqueline Murphy

I moved in to Raleigh not too long ago they made the process fast and easy. Where I'm from its when I can get to it and it takes months up North but here was quick and easy. I don't have any complaints.

Go up
