Back to the dirt!
The first trail building weekend in 2 years with my beloved Volunteers for Outdoor California (VOCal). Before and after. :^)
It's all volunteers, which selects for fringe benefit of excellent and fabulously diverse people aged 15? to 75, from all over the Bay Area. Some families, which is super cute and fun. Plus, there's the opportunity to car camp for free in fun and often otherwise forbidden places the Saturday night of the weekend, with all meals and snacks and tools and gloves and showers (& today, a freshwater pool w diving board and a complimentary frog) provided and a big fire, and there's sometimes music and sometimes a keg (this one was in Napa so we had a few bottles of wine instead) and yesterday there were about 20 California newts wandering around on the wet trail as we hiked in a soft and fragrant rain the 1.3 miles from camp to the trail we'd be building.

And I don't know if you have any aggravation in your life but I have some things in my life that really transformed themselves into dirt flung far, roots hacked through, and rocks smashed to little bitty bits with my pickmattock.
Very SATISFYING. :^)
