I highly recommend Valley Silvertown for your loved one, The facility was really clean and well maintained. They have a beautiful outdoor garden for the residents and manny activities for the residents to do. The rooms are very spacious and clean. My mother in law is really happy here and best of all has shown lots of improvement. The staff made us feel really comfortable and welcoming, they are very attentive and helpful. I truly thank God for this place. My mom is pretty frail and needs a LOT of help in day to day living but the staff here are as caring, patient, helpful and cheerful as you could possibly hope for. Everyone, including the new owner, David, is extremely friendly and professional and their utmost concern is for the well-being of the residents. When my mom ended up needing a hospital bed for even just sitting up enough to eat, David instantly and personally made sure that she got one.

The facility is VERY clean and feels very recently remodeled. There are lots of spaces for residents to just sit and relax with a great outdoor area with trees and grass with plenty of seats. The “bistro” cafeteria is clean and spacious and having been with my mom through a lot of meals, I can personally attest that the food is great and varied.

Finally, the living situation is basically little apartments with two residents per room. I feared that it would be more like a nursing home and more institutional feeling but it’s far more just like an apartment building or a college dorm. The vacant rooms all seem to be newly remodeled, are spacious and clean with lovely window views of the grass and tree outdoors areas.

Maybe the best testimony I can give is just to say that if I ever need to be in an assisted living facility, I would count it the highest possible blessing and winning the jackpot of jackpots to end up in a place as wonderful as Valley Silvertown.

P.S. there is a mix of american and korean residents here with food catering to both and staff being a mix as well. Both kinds of residents are very friendly with one another and both seem equally at home. But this place is a true godsend for residents like my mom who don’t speak english well and haven’t adapted to western style diets. There are not a lot of places that could have worked for her but again, thank God for this place.

I'm concerned about how employees behave towards new employees there. These employees have created an unwelcoming and stressful environment for new employees. My mom is currently working there. On the 2nd day, she was yelled at in the cafeteria by a lady behind the counter that she needed to pay for her meal. Today, she was again not treated with respect. She was left with 6 patients. 3 were aiming to stand up. She couldn't handle 3 patients at the same time, so called the Boss. Instead, the Director yelled at her for not calling in for help (they didn't give her a radio, probably on purpose) Yelled at her again, and told her she was her boss. This is concerning to me. My mom is a good person. She treats people with respect even when they disrespect her. She sees good in people even when they are not good to her. My mom has been a caregiver for 30 years. This is the first time that she is constantly being disrespected. They seem to purposely treat new employees badly and get written off. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated and that appropriate steps be taken to prevent such behavior in the future. If HR (Human Resources) is also in this behavior, then there is something wrong with the people who work there. I suggest that if you put your relatives there, you also need to be aware of who these management and employees are who will be taking care of your family. The employees and the management are not good people. THESE ADULT ACTS LIKE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT WHO TARGETS THE "NEW KID IN TOWN" AND MAKES THEM FEEL ALIENATED. As an adult myself and a daughter, this is EMBARRASSING.
