I really enjoy all of the staff and the amenities are outstanding. I do have a huge gripe about the overt nakedness in the changing rooms on the spa side of the men's room. Common decency should be the rule. Walking around completely naked without wrapping a towel is an unnecessary visual assault. Why is the whirlpool/hottub treated like a bathtub?!? Have these hairy dudes put a suit on. It's not a hottub it's a bowl of public hair soup. You don't allow naked people in the swimming pool! Why allow it in a sauna. It's plain unsanitary.

Nobody knows, nobody cares, nobody has a desire to find out...but they deliver it with a smile. The staff is friendly when you're talking to them. However, communication is lacking and everyone says, "I don't know, someone else is in charge of that, I'll have them contact you..." Nobody returns calls or messages. It took 9 months to get information on swim lessons. After months of being told, "I'll have the person in charge reach out to you," we finally got an email. We had asked lots of questions--who to contact, how to register, the dates, how long the lessons took, how far in advance we needed to book, age limits, requirements, etc... The email we received from the "Swim manager" said, "Yes, we offer swim lessons." That's it. No answers, no desire to sell a service, just the least information available.

Within an hour, we replied asking for all the details and information. About a week or more later, we got another reply, "Yes, swim lessons are in the spring and you have to complete a registration form." Immediately, we asked to be contacted and sent the form and all the information. Again, a week or more went by before getting only one question answered. It took months of getting only one vague answer every 7-14 days before we could piece together enough information to figure out where to start. Even down to the day of the first lesson, we still couldn't get any answer about what to do with the registration form once we filled it out.

The lessons were mediocre our kids, the water was cold, even according the instructor and there was absolutely no interest in trying to make a good impression.

All the staff we saw were friendly and kind, but I'd recommend looking elsewhere for swim lessons at least. It's too much work getting any response from anyone who knows anything about them.

2-11-25 I went in the YMCA, I was about to walk up the stairs to see my family member play a basketball game. I didn't pay attention to her name but a Muslim lady at the front desk asked me who was I there to see. I stop walking towards the stairs and I went to the desk. I told her the child's name that I was there to see play. She opened a book and verified the name. When the game was over I was walking out of the YMCA and a white lady walked in and ask the front desk where is the basketball game. The Muslim lady told her where it was without asking the white lady to verify anything. I feel like everyone should be treated fairly. If some people are going to be asked to verify names, then everyone should be ask to verify names.

I canceled my membership back March 2024 telling one of the workers at the front desk. I had retired and was on Social Security and couldn’t afford the monthly payment. Michelle, the manager confirmed that I did not come into the gym in either March or April but they still billed me for both those months. I recently was able to get insurance that allowed for a gym membership and I paid for a membership at a cheaper cost than what the YMCA charges. I went up to the Y in Thomasville today and they refused my membership through Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina blue 365 because nobody put in a cancellation back last year. Even though I never used the gym for those two months, they were adamant that I would have to pay. Michelle didn’t accept that. I told someone that I canceled and I didn’t have any extra money to pay her after I’ve already paid through my insurance for the membership. They are listed as a participating member of Fitness your way through blue 365 yet they still turned me away and wouldn’t accept my membership. After being a member there for nearly 13 years, they treat you this way.

I am not digging this Y. I have been on them for years to keep the men's whirlpool clean. They clean it twice a year as far as I can tell. I tell them at the front desk, and they write it down, and nothing happens. it used to get checked 3 times a day. now they clean it maybe twice a year with dozens of sweaty dudes using it every day. I would like to use it, but it is not worth getting a UTI or MRSA. The sauna and steam room are just as bad. I will keep you posted on the conditions here and posting pics.

Wonderful fitness center with a great sense of community! Folks at the front desk are super friendly and welcoming. Tour was great. Now a member and attending the Group Fitness classes which are a lot of fun (and sweat). This is the cleanest gym / fitness center I've been to because of the standard of care. Every time I go (3x/week), there is a janitorial staff member visibly working and cleaning. Members also grab one of the many available spray bottles and towels to clean up after themselves. The indoor pool is quite large, at a great temp, and has a lifeguard on duty. Can't recommend this place enough.

Horrible experience!!. I signed my son up for swim lessons and trusted them to keep him safe. He never swam before in his life and they had a teenaged coach teaching him. I found out on my son's first day his coach had him jumping in 10ft of water ! My son didnt even realize how deep the water was and it really scared him. The next jump my son had told me he freaked out and gulped alot of water. Then the next day I told the swim manager that I really didn't want my son jumping in 10ft of water starting out, and she just said she would let his coach know to not let him do anything he's not comfortable with.
Do you know how hard it is for one teen to tell another teen he's scared of the water? I was extremely upset that she just brushed me off after I told her specifically, I did not want my son to start off jumping in 10ft water.. I would not recommend trusting them with your child's life unattended!!! Some managers here have no respect!!! I also forgot to mention with every jump he did into 10 ft of water, he stayed down for several minutes way to long but the coach just discarded that. My son told me he tried with every jump to climb up on the sides of the pool. Even my boyfriend said there was several times the teenaged coach had a concerned look after each dive that my son took and didn't come back up until after several minutes under the water(I sat by holding my breath until my son came up out water). No one tried to stop it ...I had to intervene to stop the constant jumping into into 10 ft of water...He did have a tiny life belt around his waist but I dont understand because he stayed down in the water way way too long, and I thought a life belt kept you above water..I regret every second bringing him here to learn how to swim for the very first time. The manager put in an incident report, but when I asked about the results, she said she could not tell me anything. This company were very careless with my son's life...

This was the best summer camp my child has ever attended. We have been to other YMCAs and other reputable camps, but this one offered the best instruction and the best program of the summer! Field trips every week, Swim 3x's per week, sno cones weekly, a scheduled outline of what they will be doing each day, lunch and snacks provided etc etc. They kept us informed each week on what to expect and everything ran seamlessly. We will definitely be back! Thank you for such an amazing summer!!!
