My wife and I have been using Chris with THS Earthworks for just over a year now on our project in Banner Elk, NC. He has performed all of our grading, road work, footings, and septic systems. His professionalism and knowledge of his scope of work has been second to none. He has even gone above and beyond and helped us during storm issues that were not part of the original items he was hired to do. We cannot say enough good things about Chris and his team.

I can not thank THS Earthworks enough!
Following Hurricane Helene in Western NC, our non-profit park sustained historical damage. We were in dire need of help removing some high widow maker branches left over from the storm before we were able to bring in volunteers to start the cleanup process. One call to Chris Curtin with THS and I had my hands on an arborist's slingshot with weighted bags and haul line to reach the branches and pull them down. He gave me a quick parking lot tutorial on how to use it, and once set up, we had the deadly branches safely on the ground in time for volunteers to arrive. All this while, their shop also sustained substantial damage. Chris's kindness in loaning out the tools and his instruction allowed us to host our critical volunteer days and not delay our recovery further. We will be using THS Earthworks whenever possible in the future!

Chris and the crew at THS are masters when it comes to moving dirt (and just about anything else related to construction). Their knowledge and expertise have been invaluable during our home build. They’ve handled water mitigation from springs, digging and pouring footers, driveway placement and construction, and a number of other tasks. I can’t say enough positive things about their professionalism and skill. And that quality work comes at a very reasonable rate.

Update: We hired Chris again in Oct 2023 to grade and form a concrete parking pad up to our house. Chris and crew took their time to make sure the slope was correct for water runoff. All of his work was put to the test during Hurricane Helene and we are happy to say everything worked exactly as it should have. All of the drains installed two years ago and the parking pad drained water away from the house and kept us completely dry from the heavy rains. Chris, again, was friendly and professional and a pleasure to work with. We look forward to working with him again on our next project.

Chris was on our project for about a year, and was consistently faithful to show up as promised. He is a person of excellent character and was responsive to our needs despite weather delays and difficult family circumstances. He was patient, forthright, and looked out for us and our project in ways that went way beyond what was required. He is knowledgeable on a variety of building topics and was helpful on many levels, even though his help was not always something for which he could bill us. He was respectful in placement of his large equipment and careful not to inconvenience us more than was necessary. We are grateful for all he did for us and would hire him again, especially since he’s become a friend. We got to know Chris when he was working with our contractor on an extremely difficult grading problem on our project. At first I knew him only as the nice, friendly guy on the huge earthmover where he seemed to “live”! As the project progressed he became that person we came to depend on as he took on more and more responsibility with the project. He is smart, dependable, kind, and generally a person you WANT AND NEED on a building site. He came up with creative ways to solve our big issue which involved a natural spring that had been pumping water under the corner of our foundation for years.
