As far as used clothing this place has some very nice clothes with very reasonable prices!! The other items they may have depending on donations are also in great to excellent condition and are also reasonably priced. Most of the staff was friendly, but one lady in particular was extremely rude! Clothes are grouped according to what they are such as jeans, slacks, ext but they aren't organized by size so unless you have tons of time to seach every item for your size, then it would definitely cause some inconvenience.

This store sucks. Rude to people. They the employees buy up all the items. Maxine the manager loads her stuff at the back door in her truck. Me and a friend saw her doing this. I will be contacting someone about this store. The other employees does this when she is not there. Lori the other worker has her family waiting for things after store closes. Shame on you. Someone needs to say something this has been going on a long time. And it is true they treat people rude and talk down to the customer. No more donations from me.

I was not greeted upon walking into the store. This was not my first experience with the Salvation Army of Hickory, NC. I have donated many times before today, and yet, the lack of respect and customer service I received today necessitated warning others like me, a young, African American woman, of the hateful treatment given to me.

Others not like me, elderly and middle aged Caucasian women, received welcoming into this establishment and friendly conversation. In fact, there was an older Caucasian woman who was an employee who was indeed following me around the store. I went from the slacks section, to the blouses, to the blazers, and in between. Each time I looked up to see if I wanted to try on these clothes, there she was again pretending to sort through various items. I entered the tshirt aisle, thinking, "Why don't I just come to her this time?". She stood there sorting and as I began to look through clothes at the opposite end, she seemingly left the aisle. But, as I moved down the aisle she came back and stood right beside me "sorting".

At this time my cart was full. I had been in this store for at least an hour. Not welcomed. No offered assistance. Not even given a smile. This person stood there and did not even acknowledge me. So, I engaged her. If she wanted to watch me for the possibility of stealing, and only me in a store full of people, I was going to make her see me - and not her perception of me. I said hello. Her response, "Oh, hey, girl". Rememeber, I am a married woman and am close to 30 years old. But there it was. Her idea of me made explicit in that one word. I made small talk with her and she decided to end her sorting.

My horrible experience does not end here. I was not greeted by any of the other two associates either. However, the one I interacted with was a young Latina and had seen me multiple times but had not greeted me the way she did others entering the store or who she saw already inside. I walked up to the checkout desk, and waited for her to return from doing some other work away from the desk. Upon her return, she did not greet me still. So I looked to the left and right with my eyes speaking nonverbal to imply, "Aren't you going to say, Hello, how are you?" - Just as you'd done for everyone else?" She offered it, but was sheerly feigned as inauthentic. She rang up my items, and those that I did not choose to purchase were still in my cart. At the end of the transaction, I asked if I would I be able to leave the other clothes there at the desk. She asked if they would be on a second transaction. After I explained that they were the ones I did not want she raised her eyelids rolling them, and sighing, while reluctantly saying, "Yea, sure".

I regret not getting any of the names of these employees. But I will not be back. Nor will I ever donate at this establishment ever again.

Persons of color who are African American - because other persons of Latin descent in this store received welcome as well - should beware.

I am a believer in Christ. I hope someone in the Salvation Army corporate arena sees this review of my lackluster experience here today, and eventual change be made at the Hickory, NC location. It is unacceptable to treat people poorly when you claim to serve the Lord.

Prices going up and up. I have the blue bag which saves 20% on total purchase. Now their doing away with that. If they do they will lose my business. Goodwill will be cheaper.
