I found this beautiful girl at the shelter. Her name is Zara. She was well taken care of and they even told me that she had heartworms. When they told me that I know they were worried I'd change my mind. I just couldn't say no to this sweet girl though. I could see she was scared, who wouldn't be, she was abandoned by her old family and left somewhere she didn't know. She was nervous to do so many things when I first brought her home but more and more her personality began to show. She's now very happy and gets along great with her brother and sister (both cats). They all had to get to know each other but in the end they love each other so much. She is much happier now and if it weren't for the shelter I may have never found her. Everyone here is so kind and I really appreciate them for taking care of so many pets that were abandoned. They really try their best. With more help from the community they'd be able to do so much more for these sweet babies. As far as I know they are a no kill shelter but they still have their limits on how many babies they can take in. Please fix your pets! And really consider adopting instead of breeding or adopting from breeders. Thank you Chilton County humane society for all that yall do!

I was very impressed with the staff and the healthy conditions of the cats. The dogs were outside in huge fenced in areas and they were constantly filling up the water bowls with fresh water. Please, this is not a wealthy county, if you are interested in a barn cat or a sweet precious cuddle bug for the house, please contact Chilton county humane society.
I have been doing cat rescue for 25 years and "we can't adopt our way out of this problem". These 2 are going to a girl with 'Dixie girl dog and rescue'to be mousers. God bless you.

The listing on google showed open until 3pm. We just drove an hour here to look at and adopt an animal. The gate was locked and no one answered the phone. The signs at the road and the gate had different open times on it. Please make it more accessible and easier to get information so those fur-babies can get adopted ?
There’s also no information, age or anything about the animal we’re interested in on your website. It would be amazing if we could find their details under their picture. We’re so disappointed after the effort and drive that we made. I’m hoping to get a response here on how & when we could come meet them.

This photo was taken at 2pm on the first Saturday in March. Per their website, they are open the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 12-3pm. As you can see, they were closed.

They were (2/17/2023) full-up on dogs: no surrenders accepted. They have a low-cost spay/neuter program that is really reasonable. They also have a nice cat selection if somebody wants an adult cat. They are doing their best.

Someone dumped two puppies on me the nice people at the Chilton County HS took these dogs, although I had lots of animals awaiting adoption. These people need lots of support.

It was an amazing experience to walk those precious dogs that would otherwise never get out of their pens or crates. To see their happy faces and tails wagging was awesome and made me glad we participated.

The cages are FILTHY and we waited nearly an hour and a half for someone to give us an answer about a stray cat. Horrible service and the staff just goofs off instead of doing their jobs. The poor animals in there are either sitting in their own feces or just patiently waiting to get food. TERRIBLE AND PITIFUL!!
