My experience with the Catalyst Foundation and my case worker, Jessica, has always been great! I was homeless and living in the desert for nearly 9 years and it's because of LA Housing and their amazing outreach team and the Catalyst that I was able to get a permanent housing voucher and then find a place that was perfect for me and my needs! Jessica is a wonderful person, always polite and bubbly and encouraging. She is on top of the things I need from her and handles making my appointments and figuring out paperwork so easy for me. She is not only kind and understanding but is completely non judgemental where I've had other case workers completely ignore me and let me slip thru the cracks because of their judgments of my situation. The Catalyst helped me find my place and donated appliances and brings food when I need it. Sometimes having the right attitude and putting forth your best effort to be positive and to be willing to work with whatever your case manager needs you to makes it possible for them to provide you with the help you need. I see a lot of negative reviews on here and I'm sure those who had troubles with the Catalyst weren't easy clients to work with to begin with. If you need assistance, give them a chance to help you and it really will turn things around for you. I've had my place for almost 2 years now and I've never been happier and the future looks brighter everyday. Thank you Jessica and the Catalyst Foundation, you truly do amazing work for those in need.

This “program” is a joke. The staff is rude and most seem to not know what they’re doing. And they’re very disorganized. Originally, they promised to help pay for my rent. They told me they capped out at $3500, but I owed more than that so I worked hard to get caught up. Then they asked me for the same documents several times within a week or two because they kept losing it.

When I did get caught up to Where it was the amount they supposedly could approve (after a few weeks), they told me they were out of funding so I needed to wait until the next month. Then when the next month came, they told me they no longer hold help me with $3500. They didn’t specify what they could help with… only that they no longer could help with what originally told me.

So then, the lady, Ruby, was being very rude and not seeming like she wanted to help me at all. So only after I called her out on it, she set me up an appointment with someone else there and told me I needed to bring all my documents again. I guess they don’t Keep my ID or lease even though it’s in their emails that they could easily pull up.

Then I showed up to my scheduled appointment… canceled my plans just so I can make sure I made it to the appointment they set up for me. Evidently, 15 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment time, they sent an email (not even a phone call to make sure I got notified) canceling the appointment.

They pretend like they help families but they don’t actually care or try.

Today I took my husband to see the awesomely amazing Mrs. Teresa Hunt. I had spoken with her a couple of times prior to us meeting. I told her my issue , to which she had me call back when times got closer. I did, and Mrs. Hunt went above and beyond the call of duty to help us. My husband had nothing, and Mrs. Hunt did intake on him, gave him information, and set appointments for him to see the doc, the dent, and anyone else he needed to see. She has a very warm and beautiful spirit, and we needed ALL she was able to do for us. This foundation is one of those needs to more like it kind of places where u feel good upon stepping inside. I had no doubt that that was the place we needed to be. So plz if you're in need of anything please go and see my girl Mrs. Hunt, she'll HUNT it down and get it for you. That's Mrs. Hunt.

Hello, I am very VERY disappointed. I called several times to this establishment only to be met with an automated message that states the hours they are open. It is currently Tuesday at 12:00 pm. They do now allow voice mail. They hang up goving you no options. I was recommended this foundation for those in need and I happen to know someone who is. Yet we did not even get to speak to anyone to help us. Hopefully I am making a mistake and assuming the worst and this is actually a place wanting to help its community and it just suffering from not answering the phone.
