I want to bring attention to a very serious concern involving someone who works in the financial department at Brother Benno's—specifically an employee named Darryl.

Both my friend and I went to Brother Benno's for rental assistance. We each met with Darryl separately and were both told we would receive help and that a $1,000 check would be sent to our respective leasing offices. However, neither situation was handled as promised.

In my case, I was assured a check would be sent to my leasing office. A week later, I received a call from my property manager saying they never got anything from Brother Benno’s—and that I was now at risk of eviction. I was shocked and immediately began calling and visiting the office. It took 3.5 weeks of calling multiple times a day and three separate trips down there before I was finally able to speak with Darryl. He claimed it was due to a paperwork issue and that it had been a mistake, but it caused me a lot of stress and instability.

For my friend, she was also told $1,000 would be sent to her landlord, but only $730 was sent, without any explanation. She was blindsided, nearly evicted, and almost lost her Section 8 housing as a result.

Something doesn’t feel right about how these situations were handled. The inconsistencies and lack of communication are extremely concerning. I strongly urge leadership at Brother Benno's to review these incidents carefully and take a close look at what is going on in the financial department—especially with Darryl. People in need rely on your services and transparency is essential.
