Don't waste your time applying here. You will wait a long time (almost a week) with no communication only to be denied assistance. They are just like Crisis Control-taking all the community donations and not utilizing them to help anyone. Way too much red tape and no assistance. I would rather donate funds to providing meals to the homeless where I know the funds wil actually be used.

Recently I came to Sunnyside with a friend to see if they can get some assistance for rent and the very first meeting, they assured her that they would be able to help. She turned in all the necessary papers that was requested and didn't get a confirmation for few days. When they decided to call her, Mr. Edward took it upon himself to go over her bills and tell her how she could cut her spending but that's not what she was requesting. It wasn't brought to her attention prior to the request of assistance that that was something that would be discussed. It may be part of the service that you guys provide but if someone needs assistance that has never requested before it can be disheartening. It made her feel worse than before when she asked for support. So after holding her up on the phone, to tell her that they could help only if another agency will help her, is by far the stupidest thing I ever heard. It is also false advertising. Now she will have to go to another person that make her feel humiliated all over again. They only reason she was even there was her jobs cut hours, that's out of her control. You wasted her time and you embarrassed her. No one likes to feel like that. I am sure that Mr. Edward would not like to feel like that either. No one that I know of likes to come to agency and ask for food or any other assistance for it to be pushed back into their face. Your goal is to encourage people not belittle them.

So very helpful, never rude or demeaning, but kind and extra helpful. Always smiling and the clothing closet I loved it.

Reached out to Sunnyside Ministry for financial assistance. The director and secretary was VERY rude ! After 3 weeks of trying to get in contact with someone- They hung up on us multiple times trying to explain our situation. They lied to us about contacting another agency for us , the director threatened to expose our financial situation to the local news channel because we questioned their ability to help. I believe this is a racist church community that only helps the white people in their personal church community. Last time I checked God is by far from racist so why are his followers racist ? God made ALL OF US and if you’re going to “ serve “ God’s children , then serve the black and Latino ones too .

They helped me without preaching. I was shocked. No homophobic, shame-based, cannibalistic, Human Sacrifice, zombie religion proselytizing. (I guess they've been confronted by armchair Google "Scholars" to the point where they just don't do it.) Whatever it was, I was surprised. They also helped me get the groceries home by giving me a case and a cloth bag to carry them, since I was walking. I was offered groceries, a full change of wardrobe including a winter coat and a pair of shoes.
Love of your fellow man is there without inquiry of ones opinion on Ancient legend and mythology.
"Thank you so much!"
