StepUp Greensboro is well beyond just one step! This faith-based nonprofit organization (family) is full of people who are committed to the rewarding and arduous job of helping those in need, in so many ways, by giving them...a step up!
They work closely with organizations such as Harvesters, Urban Ministries, and NC Works, to give healing, education, and supplies to the needy.
Going through a dark time in my life, I came to StepUp for their job readiness program. Within minutes I felt at ease and validated, and safe, not just with the staff, but also with my classmates. Graduating a week later, with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, was a huge milestone in my fight against depression and anxiety.
Each week I also attend the Men's Character class they offer. These volunteers, these people who were strangers not so long ago, brought me into a loving and selfless family. They will hand you a fish; but more importantly, they'll TEACH you how to fish. As Ms. Merriman says...be good to yourself! Thank you so much, StepUp!! 👍💪❤

I see a lot of positive reviews but I completed the program went I got out of jail 2013, I didn’t receive much help or resources and they promised that once you complete the program you can always come back for help my picture is even on the wall and when I returned for help with homelessness and to get my GED they said I’d have to re take the program. I was young with no help no money and on probation trying my best to live correctly and it was hard for me and GOD helped me and opened doors my way. I’m glad it’s working for some but step up stepped on by me.
