It's been 14 years since I went here and still I get these bad dreams. Cynthia Totty Hefley was my therapist and was a nightmare. I would tell her something and she'd tell it to my family. Told information to my parents without my permission. Told my dad about my mom and stepdads finances. No. There was nowhere she wouldn't go. I ran away often and not just because of the problems with my therapist. (She made the girls not talk to me for a whole day because I chose to eat tater tots with my fingers. Like what?) The women that worked there, a lot of them were kind. Though it didn't matter to them when I and other girls complained of the treatment to us. They did nothing. A girl had bladder problems, was given a cruel note and i was blamed for it though I had the same bladder issues. They never believed the truth and were quick to punish without evidence. I will still say, however, that most were kind. People make mistakes and hopefully learn from them. I am grateful to many of them; if I hadn't gone here for that year, i would've succeeded in a suicide attempt. Still, i would recommend sending your daughter/niece/whatever somewhere else. By the reviews it doesn't seem much changed. It's nice to finally get this out, maybe be able to let go how she treated me, The stupid joy on her face when we cried and got angry. I understand she's not there anymore…good. She can't hurt them. I do have a major problem with the government money that had been given to them while I was in custody. They were shelling out for 14 months, and no one took me to get the new clothes I desperately needed. 14 months, i wonder how much that ended up being and whose pocket it went into… shame on you for stealing from a mentally broken young girl. Shame on you, Cynthia Totty Hefley, for targeting abused and weakened young girls. God BLESS you, Cynthia Totty Hefley, may the Lord forgive you of your sins.

Hi, Kristine and Cara if you still work there! Pray you're happy, healthy and prosperous and I thank you both for being decent!

Cynthia Totty Hefley was my therapist when I was there and she changed my life for the better. She made me see so many things in a different way she helped out in a way I cant described. I honestly wouldn't be here today if it wasnt for her and she knows it. She helped not only me but also my family in understanding me, one of the best gifts a person can give is understanding. I was a hott mess, a wreck, a bad child in most terms. But she helped me understand my anger wasn't (Me) only. She made me see the better part of life at such a young age. Still to this day I look up to her with the best memories of she being there for me at my most dark time. To that i am truly grateful to have a woman like that ever in my life to care so much about me. So if your reading this Cynthia ty from the bottom of my heart. I'm still here and fighting this world called life but I'm not so angry thanks to your love!!!

I was there for foster care when I was young around 15 or so.. I hated it I was always inside and their lil staff meeting in the office was just to talk or make fun of the girls that were living their.. they showed favoritism .. for any lil thing that bothered them they'll write it in so when the the social workers came for the weekly visit you wouldn't have a pass for the weekend ... But not all the staff were bad miss Lisa was strict but once you knew here she was a sweetheart miss Chantel third shift was also a sweet heart ... But the rest just stayed in the office in the blue chair and never interacted with us .and get mad when we would ask them for favors or questions

My experience at St. Rose Youth an Family center was traumatic, and I was eventually removed by Jewish Children's Services. My therapist was Cynthia Totty Hefley. She frequently broke confidentiality by telling other girls on my unit about each girls problems. She was emotionally abusive, and after I was moved I was diagnosed with PTSD. We were told we were "bad girls" , and that our families didn't want us. After my suicide attempt while there, I had all my clothes and personal items taken away for the last six months that I was there. My phone calls to my parents were monitored for 6 months, and all my letters to my parents were opened and read. I can understand taking someone's things away after a suicide attempt, but not for 6 months. When a caseworker came to talk to me , Cynthia was very inisistant about being in the room. The caseworker told her that since there were abuse allegations, she could not be in the room. Cynthia became very angry about it. My sessions had to be tape recorded, and they decided there was cause for concern and moved me to a different residential. It probably saved my life. Do not go to this residential. Although Cynthia Totty Hefley does not work there anymore, girls still shouldn't be sent there. Anywhere else would be better.

I went here when I was 16 years old and now im 40 and im doing good I use what I learned in here. What help me was the groups and art therapy. Don't get me wrong ad first I didn't let the program work but then I couldn't stand not being happy so I started to let the program work by works with all things that were bothering me. I still have my up and downs. If you want the help you get it and let it help you.
