My step-son tragically lost his father during Covid 2019. My wife and I have been trying to get his social security benefits set up ever since with ZERO success. Firstly we were told that our office was not taking on any appointments (2019) and they would add our name to a callback list but it could take up to a year. Then my son was denied TWICE before he ever had an appointment nor did anyone ever call back to even set up any appointments. We finally got through and got an appointment set up back in February for an appointment this morning at 9am. The agent was a half hour late calling and hung up on us the second we told her we had been waiting 3 years for help. This is an absolute failure of yet another American institution. Why is no one holding these people accountable and why do they keep acting like they can do anything they want? My family is struggling and our government has the means to help. Furthermore we have earned the right to gain such benefits from our government and yet we go without continuously for YEARS!!!
