I was encouraged to apply by my la maestra clinic coordinator, being unexpectedly pregnant for the first time, I can’t afford new clothes due to inflation and not able to work enough with a belly at a warehouse. Honestly I mainly needed underwear and bras, then 2-3 shorts and shirts. Ive been forced to stop wearing some of mine that aren’t stretchy and I was hopeful to get support from Sharia’s closet, but they weren’t able to donate any. I appreciate the support by Sharia’s closet by gifting me 1 bag of support, but I only got 1 XL green shirt that actually fit and the other 5 shirts/jacket were Small and Medium 😭. The one pair of shoes didn’t fit, I got sent a 9 instead of 9 1/2. The only thing I’ll be able to use is the green shirt and the single scrunchy and hair clip in the picture. As for bottoms, I requested a size change by email due to an error, but they didn’t see it, so all bottoms didn’t fit. They didn’t respond while waiting 2 weeks after trying to get that error fixed by email. Everything else I got, I will be sending to Mexico now to help other poor people who will hopefully need it more and it fits them. May God help me in these difficult times and situations, I am grateful for the attempt this organization tried to give. Unfortunately it didn’t feel like the bag was made especially for me, when going to the location today, I got a little lost and asked one of the volunteers if I was in the right spot and he ignored me as he was facing me and continued folding and a lady next to him heard me and told me yes and the office was behind their tent. Their office was hidden by the tables and the tables area had a lot stuff making it a little hard to walk through.

I have donated items there recently several times and it is one of those places that renews your faith in humanity. I am moving out of state or I would definitely do some volunteer work there. I always walk away feeling peaceful, thankful, and hopeful.

I sent a request to get emergency clothes more than 2 weeks ago as I am homeless and not only did my request go unnoticed I never got any email or text to get my clothes. Very unhelpful when you’re homeless. Will never contact this place again. They clearly don’t help everyone like they claim.

Love this place. Went for the first time to donate and was given a warm welcome as well as the story of how the business became and a tour of the inside. Amazing all the effort they put in to help the community. Drop off was very simple. Just handed them a trash bag full of clean clothes and my part was done. So happy my clothes will go to someone who needs them. Donations here could help someone trying to get back on their feet have the confidence they deserve go to interviews for the jobs they need to support themselves and their family’s. As well as allow people to get clean clothes and supplies for their children while they are working towards their independence. You never know what cards life could deal you but I know I’d be glad to have the support that Sharias Closet provides if I was going through a hard time. Donating here is one of the easiest ways to invest in your community!

I visited their location in Chula Vista near Third Avenue and they helped me out a lot. I got all the clothes I needed and hygiene products as well. If you're low income or homeless I highly recommend using this resource to help with the clothes you need.
