There are just too many amazing things I can say about Saving Grace. As a proud parent of a SG Alum, it is an amazing place to find your next four-legged friend. Saving Grace is more than just your average dog shelter. For those who are just beginning their adoption journey or those who find themselves unable to adopt right now, there are several great programs to help satisfy your needed fur fix as well as help improve the life of a shelter dog! For the adventurous, the Hiking Program helps connect volunteers and shelter dogs for an excellent Saturday morning hike every week, offering both a 3 and 4 mile course (hiking photos attached!). For those wanting to see how a dog fits into their home, the Weekend Sleepover Program offers the opportunity to take a shelter dog home for the weekend and sometimes an extended week-long sleepover during holidays and other special occasions.

The first time I visited Saving Grace I knew it was different! Beautiful flowers and landscaping and DOGS! Dogs, running free, playing with friends, interacting with people! I began volunteering over 5 years ago. Saving Grace is such a huge part of my life now, I can't imagine not being a part of this wonderful rescue! I absolutely love helping the dogs and seeing them go to happy homes! And I love the people I work with. We leave the world's problems behind and enjoy the dogs and our work for these sweet souls. We bond over dogs and our love for them. Saving Grace is my Happy Place!

I adopted my beloved Cooper from Saving Grace in 2016 and the whole experience was so fantastic that I vowed to start volunteering there when I retired from teaching.
I was fortunate enough to start volunteering there in 2019. I have done shift work (feeding, rotating the dogs out of their crates for exercise, cleaning the crates and buildings, doing dishes, scooping poop, folding laundry), administered medication to the dogs, and worked as an adoption counselor during my time at SG. I have learned so much, had such a great time, and made such good friends as a volunteer.
SG is truly a remarkable place for the dogs, the volunteers, and the adopters!

We've started hosting dogs over the weekend sleepovers, and it's been great! Whoever thought this up was a genius. Our dog of 14 years recently passed away, and while we're not ready for a new full time dog, this is a wonderful way for our home to feel less empty on the weekends, while giving these sweet souls a break from shelter life and help them learn some skills. I can tell they've been very well cared for at Saving Grace. When we're ready to adopt, we'll go here first.

I volunteer at saving grace and I am always amazed how many dogs are left at shelters. I love volunteering here because the dogs are all so well cared for and have plenty of opportunities for play and freedom. The grounds are beautiful and the dogs get to take full advantage of every open space. They are well fed and cared for. So many people come together to help and make sure each dog gets some individual attention. They have some great programs too like taking dogs on hikes and being able to have a dog sleepover for the weekend so they can get used to being in a home setting. The dogs are given so many opportunities to find great homes and while they are here they are loved on by all the volunteers.

Saving Grace is an amazing organization that rescues thousands of dogs every year from high kill shelters and finds them a forever home. Their facility aka The Farm is a veritable Disneyland for dogs. Over 100 dogs are available for adoption and you will find at least one that will melt your heart. My wife and I were introduced to Saving Grace by a neighbor who foster new born litters of puppies. We have now been fostering puppies and "fun size" (under 20 lbs) dogs for them for over a year now. Some are puppies, some are fun sized dogs, and some are medical fosters who are recording from an illness or perhaps surgery. We foster them anywhere from 1-4 weeks before they return for adoptions. As soon as we drop one off, we volunteer to take another one so Saving Grace can rescue another dog. Many of the dogs come from high killer shelters in eastern NC who have little chance of being adopted. They have several vans staffed with volunteers who visit the shelters every week and rescue as many dogs as they can, given capacity constraints. If you sign up to be a foster, they can rescue more dogs. There is a veritable Army of volunteers at Saving Grace who do everything from managing the adoption process, feed the dogs, clean up after the dogs, communicate with volunteers, plan and organize fund raisers, manage social media, and everything else you can imagine. Whatever skills you have, Saving Grace can find a place where you can make an impact and volunteer with so many amazing people and some very grateful dogs. The adoption fee is $395, but the reality is that there actual cost of managing the facility and caring for the dogs is three times that amount. Any amount you can donate to them would be greatly appreciate. My wife and I give our time and our money, but the rewards we receive in return greatly exceed that. Two of foster puppies are now members of our family and eagerly great each puppy we bring into our home. I encourage you to stop by, gather more information, and get involved. You'll be glad you did and so will the dogs that you assist to rescue.

I LOVE this hiking program with the shelter pups! It’s such a great way to start a weekend morning and do some exercise that means so much to the dogs. The pups are so grateful to be off the property (even though Saving Grace is absolutely beautiful and filled with the nicest volunteers), but this lets the pups be in their element and explore. I don’t know Greg and Scott well but they have been guides on both of the hikes I’ve done and they are the nicest guys. Good work SG! Great program.

I wish I had made my appointment earlier in the day so I could have spent all day there! The grounds were beautiful and filled with happy doggos lounging in the shade, swimming in the many pools, or just following humans around. The staff and volunteers were absolutely amazing. I left with and sweet and extremely gentle hound mix and couldn't be happier.
