It is so amazing that there is a place that injured wildlife can be taken. Be aware you will not get any towels or containers back. We have taken a hummingbird and a songbird...and discovered that shop towels are fibrous and soft enough to comfort a bird. They are blue and just like paper towels...available in bulk at Costco periodically.
The pics are of the bird that got loose when we were trying to get a video of it for the staff...but he was caught and delivered!

Saved this adorable loon and took it to the wildlife care center. They are very responsive, caring, and answer phone calls or will call back ASAP. They also encourage you to call to check in the well-being of the bird.

I can't say enough good about this place. 1st visit personally. But I've referred them hundreds of times. They really do care about animals. I couldn't believe how busy they were when I brought them an Owl. There were storks in boxes everywhere. It was beyond busy and they were so calm, cool, collected, and caring. Trust me there's a reason they can't answer the phone all the time. They'll return your call though. Looking forward to committing to some volunteer time. They need them. All the time...n

One of the best wildlife rescues I've ever seen. The staff here is caring, knowledgeable and devoted. Lits of new, state of the art equipment and buildings, with more on the way. I was so impressed I think I'm actually going to start volunteering soon so I can be a part of such a great organization!

What would we do without the Wildlife Care Network? Well certainly many of our precious wildlife would not survive.
I have been volunteering at SBWCN for a couple months now and have learned how critical of a place this is for our community and habitat. In just a couple months I have seen numerous mammals come in looking staved and stick and seen them recover to good health and energy to be released and continue with life. Each animal, big or small, is part of our ecosystem and it has been enlightening to learn about their roles.
The staff is hardworking and passionate. Dawn is an excellent volunteer coordinator and keeps us all in the loop. Brit and Devon have been wonderful to learn from in regards to animal care and rehabilitation. I have also connected with the other volunteers like Dana who provided consistency and teamwork to promote a good rhythm with care. If you are considering volunteering please do. Consistency is key. In just a couple months I truly have learned so much about our surroundings and about how to handle and care for our precious wildlife. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this team.

If you find an injured animal, don’t take them to this place. They only have one solution and it’s euthanizing animals and telling you it’s the most humane thing to do. Don’t let all these good reviews fool you. I found a pigeon with a broken wing. I kept her for a day before taking her to this slatherhouse. She was doing well other than having a broken wing. I gave her food and water. They believe animals with disabilities should be euthanized. Please don’t support these people. if you find an injured animal, be sure they are safer with you or just in the wild.

While doing yard work over the weekend found a baby bird on the ground couldn't have been more than a week old . I looked in the tree to see if I could find the nest that the bird had fallen from with no luck I started searching the internet. Unfortunately it was after hours so I made a small nest in a box and delivered first thing in the morning. Haven't heard anything on how the bird is as of yet . Hopefully it survived. Great to have a place like the wildlife care unit in Santa Barbara
