At the 2020 San Francisco Writers Conference, the lectures were excellent, and I had the opportunity to meed one-on-one with experts in the field. There were more opportunities than I was able to take advantage of.Their Speed Dating with agents was exceptionally well run. And the great Walter Mosley knocked it out of the park as a keynote speaker. I learned a lot, and I will back next year.

This is by far the best and most comprehensive writer's conference I've ever attended. Besides all the sessions on improving craft, some of the most valuable lessons I've learned have come from industry editorial, marketing, and publicity experts. Without this conference, I would not know how to produce audio books, how to work with television producers, and how to exploit traditional and social media, to name a few. Every serious writer should make a point of coming at least once. I've attended for several years now and my skills and network of publishing pros gets stronger every time. Come join in. You'll be inspired for sure!

I've been participating in this conference for 15 of its 17 years. All the track leaders - nonfiction, marketing and business, children and YA, poetry, fiction, independent publishing (that's me!) - stay current and cross-check to make sure to invite the best and most effective presenters. I love connecting with authors who return year after year, like me. Never stop learning, never stop writing, never stop publishing!

Very warm and welcoming, friendly and supportive, but also serious and demanding. As a first-time author, I learned a lot. The first two days were bewildering, but after I found a tribe of like-minded spirits, I settled into the conference and began to feel more confident. Great array of keynote speakers and presenters. Lots of helpful panels about the craft of writing and the business of publishing. Very productive. Everyone was very approachable.

I have gone to the San Francisco Writers Conference twice now. I met a ton of extremely helpful literary agents there, and one very special agent who went above and beyond helping me get my writing house in order. The first year I attended I learned about everything I didn't know about becoming a professional writer. I met with Kevin Smokler and got great advice from people like: Laurie McLean, Karly Caserza and Gordon Warnock. I took classes, I met and became friends with other authors, I met with literary agents and I worked on my pitch. This last year felt more like a reunion. Meeting old friends, catching up, networking and learning insider tips. If you are serious about becoming a professional author, investing in attending a conference like this is well worth every dollar. The connections you will make there are almost impossible to make anywhere else, and the knowledge you'll gain is invaluable. When I become a published author, I will owe it to this conference!

Iโ€™ve attended this conference since 2006 because it has helped me make discoveries, make money with my books, and, most importantly, make close friends. I love the poetry track. The entire conference is highly recommended.

This was my first year at the conference and I am a new writer. I loved how organized it was and how many different choices they had in topics. Everyone sincerely wanted to help the writers there. I got so many questions answered and I have a much idea what Iโ€™m getting myself into.
