A really cool place to visit. There is a guy there you can talk to about Salvation Mountain. Very colorful and roped off so people don't climb on everything. Access to Bathrooms. Free to enter but donations or paint are welcome. You can drive in further at your own risk around Slab City. Slab City is an off the grid, alternative lifestyle community. House of Dots is a very interesting take on art and Dot was great to talk to.

What a unique structure, with a very positive message. Be sure to climb to the top for the views of the surroundings, but also of the structure itself. There was a docent sharing info and helpful tips to best enjoy it. Be sure to bring some cash to donate to the ongoing efforts of the locals to maintain the structure.

Stunning sight to see and fun to climb up. A total must if you’re in Palm Springs! The most gorgeous place at sunset, too

I’ve always wanted to see this place, and it did not disappoint. What a beautiful structure. And it’s right next to Slab City. Make sure to take a quick drive through Slab City before you leave.
And you can take your dog on a lead!

It was a fun day with my kiddos climbing up and seeing the view. Beautuful art work by the artist, incredible and unbelievable what he created. Some people might feel it's a little sketch with the surrounding mobile homes. But I felt it was safe.

We were driving around Salton Sea and wanted to check out Salvation Mountain. Quite the engineering feat by Leonard Knight. Some parts of it are collapsing and most of it could use more work but it is still impressive

I realized I have been unfair in my review of the Salvation Mountain. I initially gave it 3 stars simply because this place didn’t “speak” to me on a deeper level. But then I realized I have been unfair: the fact that it didn’t speak to me shouldn’t minimize the creativity and commitment of those involved in the conception and maintenance of this place. It is indeed a unique place to see if you ever get in the area. I walked the “yellow brick road” and was amazed by the ingenuity of its creators.

Open 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Arrive by 4 PM to walk the whole site. Take a few minutes afterwards to drive through Slab City - a different culture. When leaving Slab City, the sign accurately reads, "Reality Ahead".
