How in the world is this hospital still open?!?!? The entire facility needs an immediate overhaul. So very disheartening to know that a select few of residents in this community have absolutely no other options (few transportation options) and are tethered to the hospital of death and doom. The State of New York is failing these residents. Lack of basic care or simple human kindness and respect.

I was there in 2022 for my arm hurting. I informed nurses in ER I have been drinking and to not give me medicine for it as it will cause seizures. One nurse did give me something and next thing I knew it was 3 days later and I had broke my shoulder. After the surgery they tried saying I owed 400$ which a day later was removed from my care. They tries covering up their mistake to prevent a law suit. Also went in for a abcess and was told I had no trainable fluid and mix other diagnosis which upon seeing a specialist outside the hospital I now am getting the treatment the hospital should have given me!

I had a seizure on Thursday morning…by nighttime I was okay but figured it would make sense for them to keep me overnight. I did my labs and waited about 7 hours to take my MRI just for them to keep me another day because they did the wrong MRI. Had to sit and wait eating garbage food for 12 hours after my MRI order had went in just to go get it done then had to wait till the next day to get my EEG (which I was told would be read fast)…this was at 9am…I have been healthy and just waiting to be discharged for over 36 hours and no one has any updates when I ask for them. I will never come here again.

This place doesn't even deserve a 1 star. The staff stole my mothers phone and when she told them about it their answer was "you shouldn't have brought it". Then they install the colostomy tubes in a place she can't see and is to hard to tape. Then even with the bag still leaking they send her home instead of to rehab because, I don't know maybe they want her to die. Now she has to deal with the nurses assigned from the hospital who also can't tape the bag right, has damaged her home and just today one yelled at her for calling to have the bag they installed wrong fixed. I honestly have no idea how these people having been arrested because anyone else did this they would be in jail for elder abuse. All I have to say is if you have to go here, to a flight to a different hospital as these doctors could care less if you got better, only that they get paid. They are the scum of Rochester right next to Unity.

Went to the RGH ER with a friend whose having a chest pain at 4a and waited for over 4 1/2 - 5 hours. Got admitted for vitals and that's bout it. No check in from anyone else, just draw blood twice. They advised that they were in the middle of shift change. Finally the NP came and check on us after 4.5 hours wait time, but my friend have had it, he wanted to leave. What a disappointing experience. I am giving this hospital ER 1 star. Will not recommend to anyone if you have to go to ER.

This place is a hell hole. Patients waited more than 7 hours to receive help or assistance and the staff was negligent leaving needles from IV drips on the floor. Do not come here unless you want to be tortured by the patient navigators and nurses. In fact, don't come to Rochester at all, the place is infested with rats and drug addicts.

At least they did more than Strong when I was literally dying from a dysautonomic crisis that Strong misdiagnosed it as anxiety 2xs & discharged me, got to RGH with a HR of 16 & BP 70/40 they put me on the cardiac unit for 5 days & then did absolutely nothing but screw up my meds & treat me like I did something wrong. They stopped my critical meds that help control the condition because they don't know what they're doing. I kept telling them what was causing the wild swings of BP & HR, but they'd never heard of it & kept insisting it was my meds. I was forced to take my own after asking for 2 days about them & then they said I was taking street drugs! My IV came out & I called for help for 2 hours at 3 am & I was forced to lie flat on my back unable to stand without collapsing so I couldn't even leave when I was screamed at by a male nurse who I kept telling that I needed the ultrasound to guide the IV & instead he blew 7 veins, tried to go in my wrist which bled like a faucet & stayed purple. I cried & begged him to wait a while before trying again, he said I'd be discharged then because "you can't be in the hospital without an IV" which is ridiculous. A man next to me wretched & cried as they stopped his heart pill -he was withdrawing & perilously close to a stroke too! Nothing resolved, just misdiagnosed as brady & hypotension only, all my meds stopped for no reason except for the fact I was forced to take my own when my HR hit 191 & BP was 180/140. They gave me discharge paperwork proving they were not giving me all my meds & tried giving me a new falsified set & asked for the original back, I left with both so there's proof. This is what we've been left with since NYS forced COVID vaxx on the healthcare system employees thereby running out the experienced doctors who have enough sense not to take an untested vaxx. There's nowhere to go that actually gives good care to everyone. Highland & Unity do only if you're in the right demographic. We're literally taking our lives in our hands when we go to these hospitals. These Drs are inexperienced, inept, cruel, unethical & misconduct is rampant. Like Thomas Gately PA, whom others have labeled rude and abusive & is also IMO, dangerous. My friend is also a PA that said she can't get them to listen to her & she is a DOCTOR too! (I have a rare genetic condition that requires hospital stays & have been a patient for the past 40+ years at these facilities & can give a fair assessment) It's terrifying to have to teach a Dr about your condition but I'm grateful for the ones that ask instead of the ones that mock & dismiss because they really seem to believe they know everything. Long gone are the days where you were treated with respect & the understanding that you need medical attention or you wouldn't be there. Although I know many people should be going to urgent care instead of the ED, I think many doctors are inexperienced & are used to it not being a true emergency however they need to be aware of the fact that they are dismissing people who are in need of their help. They literally laugh at, yell at & mock patients these days - it's disgusting & causes trauma. I'm not sure what others do but I'm not in the habit of showing up at the ED unless I feel it's absolutely critical, in fact I probably wait too long. They've been trained to not admit people since COVID even when you clearly need it, they're overlooking ominous test results, signs and symptoms & pushing people out the door with meds to control the symptoms instead of attempting to treat the underlying causes. It's gotten to the point where you need to be on death's door for them to take action & even then.. they often don't. They treat people inhumanely, like they're a nuisance. They don't have the experienced older Drs there to teach them how to handle emergency situations & that things are different than their textbook so there's no safe ED option in Rochester. It seems like RGH is the better large hospital currently & that's not saying much. The state needs to be auditing these hospitals and taking action.

The majority of the caregivers seem to lack basic care skills and compassion or understanding of your issues. My fiancé had bariatric surgery and hernia repair June 17th, it took telling the staff multiple times that she needed to use the bathroom . After about an hour and half of waiting , someone finally came in and helped her. They take her food before she even gets a chance to eat anything at all. I had to ask what was taking so long to get new compression socks instead of being informed or updated from the staff itself. Not all the staff was incompetent but this place definitely needs to undergo training on understanding each patient and their needs.
