We attended Rescue Residence’s “Desert jAMBOree” weekend in 2023 and got to hear first hand from some of the board members, participants, and supporting community about this organization and its unique approach to tackling homelessness.

Many of the staff and the founder are Veterans and/or have experienced homelessness themselves. So, they have unique insight and perspectives and it’s obvious they care deeply about this mission. I love that their approach is always focused on the individual, allowing flexibility and choice on the path to success, rather than trying to fit every one into a neat little box.

I am proud to support this organization and am grateful for the work they’re doing. Their vision and dedication is inspiring, and the Veterans (i.e. Heroes) who took up the call to serve our Nation deserve nothing less than that level of passion and commitment!

While clearly a young charity with its share of growing pains and limited capability, Rescue Residence is a morally strong band of misfits and madlads who will do everything in their power to ensure people get through tough times in one piece. Whether that's via transportation or power support to mechanical and labor support, everything they've done for me has moved me past one of the darkest periods of my life to a level of freedom and self determination I had thought a foolish and idle fantasy. The goal of building and utilzing ambulance tiny homes is as a tool against veteran homelessness, at the time of this writing, still a work in progress, but well on the way. Even for the troubles and challenges, working with Dan has been a learning opportunity that sheds light on just how things can change with even one good leader. Fortunate, then, that they have several.

I only ever meant to be a volunteer, never a client. But being here full time for almost a year has been chaotic, challenging, and probably the most proud I've ever been. For the first time, I'm doing something that actually matters.

Thank you for everything you've done so far, and will do in the future. I'll be here as long as you'll have me.
