Received 3+ calls in the past 2 weeks from this establishment. When I can, have informed the caller not to call back/take my number off their list! The calls continue. You do not respect me...I Definately don't respect the Rescue Mission!

Thank you for your understanding of what I experienced at the Victorville Store. I will never ever go there again. No one ever contacted me from that Victorville store. You as people at the Oxnard Store who Listened to me are truly a god loving person. God Bless

They will not stop calling me. I've had blocked them for awhile now but this morning they somehow sqeezed another call in. I called back and left a message to stop calling. Spamming people with phone calls is not how you get people to help your organization.

The basics (tl;dr): if you are allowed to stay, you can only spend 5 nights inside, then you must have 10 days out, regardless of weather or capacity. Super christiany. Staff is abrasive and highly disrespectful.

The staff get extremely irritated when you want to wait for the shower room to empty because you don't want to shower with 20 other men.
Before you are allowed to get to your bed you must attend a mandatory Christian sermon, movie, or random activity.
The staff get extremely irritated when your bed has the slightest wrinkle, and will withhold breakfast until the bed meets their approval.
The staff get sperate meals prepared for them, which is completely different from the residents. The meals for the residents vary wildly. The meals seem to be prepared based on how much attention or time the kitchen staff have or feel like giving. Not do for the staff.
The staff allow known violent offenders, including abuse, sex, and robbery, to stay. Even when those same offenders have been violent to other residents.
There is no privacy afforded to anyone, and some staff seem to really like hanging out in the shower room when it's full, for no reason.
The showers do not work unless the staff want them to.
There seems to be a female side to this place, I'm assuming they are on the second floor. I know nothing about the female side, sorry.
The mats they use as mattresses will make any existing back or hip pain worse.
Staff have lost personal clothing, and they are not replaced. In the morning all bags are placed on the hallway floor. Which means when someone wakes up earliest, they can pick though everyone else's bags, and keep w/e they like.
The staff do not show veterans any or less respect.
If a staff doesn't want you there , you get booted, regardless if there is a reason at all.
Good luck!

I am a supporter of the Ventura County Rescue Mission specifically. I have spoken to many of the staff...and I am convinced they are Godly people doing Godly work.

They have quite a few thrift stores in Ventura County and use the money generated to run men and women's recovery programs helping people transition from homelessness and drugs back to normal lives.
It's rare to find companies truly helping and doing good in the world.
