The silence and power of being away from all 'city' distractions was wonderful. It invited me to exhale, listen for the leaves rustling, pray, think, read, walk, and get lost in thought. The view was magnificent, there are a few short trails with a bench at the end, cool springs, and a whippoorwill serenaded me at sunset. They even have fairly mature American Chestnut trees growing there! A very rare find, and a gift. You can go for the day (restroom in the welcome center) or spend nights there.
It is not a spa, nor resort. They have cabins and a very nice/modern Retreat house. I stayed in the writer's room, which is rustic and bare-bones; I'd call it city-girl camping. It has plumbing (not hot water), and electricity. You have to go down a steep outdoor staircase to get to the area with the bath & kitchenette. They have a microwave & fridge, and it's bring your own food, or fast.
It is run by Christians, but you do not have to be one to go. Just know that christians will be praying for you during your stay.
It is so good for the soul!!

I love this place. As soon as you start up the mountain you'll feel the world start to melt away from your mind. It's like you are in the arms of God. Words can't explain what you feel and how amazingly beautiful it is

To the photographer who posted a one-star review and any other photographers or influencers: this is a sanctuary for prayer and reflection, not a venue for a photo shoot. To give it one star when you disrespected the purpose of the place is woefully unfair. This place is incredibly beautiful and nearly magical in the peace it offers those who respect its intended purpose. I have the pleasure of visiting this place periodically to marvel at the structure itself as well as the view.

Thank you Ms. Adams I have a number of Photographer friends and they would never come up here to shoot or be rude it truely is a peaceful place to give yourself a reset in this busy and LOUD society we live in and people like that come up and think they can treat it like its another place in the city.

Love visiting this beautiful place every time I come into town visit my grandparents in Celo. Best place I have found to pray, reflect, & have quality quiet time with God. I thank the owners whoever they are for building such a place, I’m sure it’s been a struggle.

We were asked to not be on the property to take pictures and my clients and I had to find a different location. If I had known this was private property we would not have came.
