I was a placed in quality group homes in early 90's. I wasn't bad... just no foster homes available and my mom gave me up for her own issues. Anyhow.. through this place I thrived. I met many counselors who were kind and tough. The manager was so great. In on weekends, holidays.. whenever girls needed to talk she was there by phone at the very least. Only problem was they had a difficult time protecting some girls from the others. But, when I finally protected myself.. I didn't get in trouble as they understood they were unable to protect me given laws of the time.. and especially now. I don't know what life is like there 28 years later. But, if it's lasted this long. They must be doing something right. In fact, my experiences made me want to help people. I have my Masters in clinical Psychology and 10 credits away from a PsyD from USC. I'm a trauma specialist who's worked with countless trafficked teens and children. I have no doubt quality was instrumental in my life and choices. In fact, I was just thinking about the people there which is why I wrote this. Miss May.. the founder, don't even know if she's alive now. But she was the sweetest woman imaginable.
