SUCH A FUN, CREATIVE PLACE! They have a super cool outdoor playground area with lots of fun things for kids of all ages to play on! There’s a fence maze, a new modern playground structure, a custom-made play structure that you climb up to get onto, then there are two HUGE red tube slides to slide down on! A really super cool play area for kids and learn about health-related topics.

Play Well Park is almost 6 stars. The equipment is largely unshaded. There is shade to rest in. That being said Holy Cow!! What a terrific park. If you haven't made it here with your little ones, make a date. Looks like they're installing misters also.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Poe Center for Health Education with my students as part of a field trip, and overall, the experience was enriching and enjoyable. The lessons and activities were meticulously planned and executed, ensuring that each student was engaged and learning throughout the visit.

The center offers a variety of guided activities that captivated the students’ attention and made learning fun. One of the highlights was the interactive session on healthy eating, where we discovered creative ways to replace sugary products with fruits and vegetables. This session was particularly enjoyable and informative, providing practical tips that students could easily understand and apply in their daily lives. Additionally, the vegetable garden at the center was a fantastic feature. It allowed the students to participate in hands-on activities, giving them a tangible connection to the importance of healthy eating and the origins of their food. This hands-on approach significantly enhanced their learning experience and made the visit memorable.

However, I must point out a significant area for improvement: disability accessibility. One of my students, who uses a wheelchair, faced considerable challenges navigating the center. Moving in and out of several enclosed activity areas was difficult, highlighting the need for the center to address accessibility issues. Ensuring that all students, regardless of their physical abilities, can fully participate in and enjoy the activities is crucial.

Drove 30 minutes and the park closed at 4:22 when we pulled up instead of the listed hours of 5pm so definitely won’t waste my time driving trying to bring the kids here

I came here as a chaperone on a field trip and I was blown away. The work they do here is incredible and the way they communicate such important things to children is really well done. Both teachers of the classes we went to were gifted with kids, extremely engaging and I could tell the kids got so much out of the whole experience. I’m so glad we have something like this is NC!

It was great! We got to learn how to be healthy (this field trip happened in 4th grade, aka a year ago) and we got to go inside the giant head in the middle to learn about the brain. The part where we had to learn about what healthy foods we can eat and what bad foods can ruin your body systems and etc, it encouraged me to try a baked potato. Now I have it on one of my favorite foods! Thank you for opening such a wonderful center to learn and go to. On Monday (December 18, 2017) I will have to go there for another field trip to learn about puberty. I would love to go there again!
