The North Alabama Foster Closet has been an incredible support to our family. They’ve helped meet every physical need we've had — from diapers and clothes to baby gear, shoes, Bibles, and devotionals for foster parents. There's always a cozy blanket or stuffed animal for each child, and those small touches mean so much.

But what sets them apart is the heart behind it all. Kimberly and her team have made sure we never feel alone in this journey. They’ve invited us into a community of support and encouragement, offering guidance during the hardest moments —offering encouragement when we were preparing our bio kids to say goodbye to a baby we loved. She’s reminded us it’s okay to take a breather, to feel the hard things, and to keep going.

This isn’t just a place to get physical help. It’s a place to be seen, supported, and understood. 💛 This is more than just a resource — it’s a place of compassion, wisdom, and genuine care for foster families. We are so grateful.

The NAFC has been such a support for our whole family as we have walked out our foster care journey. From providing clothing, shoes and formula, to emotional support and encouragement, the foster closet is a critical wrap around support for families in the trenches. When you arrive at the closet, Kimberly and the volunteers make you feel seen, cared for and supported. A very special community nonprofit indeed!

Foster closet has been a huge blessing to our family! We have received placements many times that come with nothing or just the clothes on them. The Foster Closet always steps up and give us all the necessary items to help these kiddos feel safe and cared for. We have had babies straight from the hospital all the way to 17 and Mrs Kimberly is always there to help in anyway needed emotional or material. It would be very difficult to do what we need to do with out the Foster Closet. Thank you again for alway being there no matter the need!!!

As a foster family, we love the Foster Closet! They have personally helped us with essentials for two placements. I feel so blessed to be in a town where a foster closet exists since almost always kids come into care with very little and it takes DHR a month to send out any stipend. Kim is wonderful! Always thinking of others and their needs.

The first time they helped me I literally cried I didn’t have very much for my kinship at the time and didn’t know where I was going to get anything on such short notice and I called and Kimberly sent me the form and gave me an appointment time. The volunteers were wonderful they gave me everything I needed. Since my first placement I have had four others that they have help with also. My foster kids first experience at the Space and Rocket Center was also due to the generosity of the North Alabama Foster Closet. I can honestly say they have made fostering tremendously more successful for me as a foster parent with meeting the kids needs and I appreciate the volunteers there.

I have had 10 kids, mostly teenagers, come through my home so far. Every time they need clothing. Some have had infants that they had visitation with and I needed car seats. Foster Closet not only helped to supply the items I needed but they also supplied me a shoulder to cry on and introduced me to other families that foster and know the support we all need. I couldn't do what I do without them!

The foster closet has been so helpful to our family! We had had mostly teens but got a call for a 1 yr old. When I picked him up from DHR, he had shorts and t shirt on, no socks, shoes, extra diapers or anything else. It was 4:00 in the afternoon so I dropped him off with my husband and someone met me at the foster closet and within one hour I had clothes, toys, diapers, blankets, sippy cups, and even pajamas for the night! He stayed with us for 6 months and I was able to go and get clothes when the season changed and when he outgrew what we had. We brought back everything that was still in good condition, which was most everything, so it could be used by another family. Donations go a long way when they are brought here! As a sometimes weary foster mom, I also love this place for the emotional support and encouragement I get here!

I have been volunteering with the North Alabama Foster Closet for a few months now, and only have incredible things to say about this organization. We serve the needs for foster families of all types, from less than 1 month old infants to teenagers. We, as volunteers, get to see and hear the beautiful stories of families who display love and kindness to children unconditionally. The foster closet is a place where families can come receive items that they may need for the kids, have an ear to listen to their story, and just be a simple helping hand.
