I hosted my daughter's birthday party there earlier this month. We had a pony painting party and it was magical. Alex, the director of the facility, introduced the kids to the horses on the property, taught us all fun horse facts, and showed us how to properly move around the horse. The kids had a blast painting the ponies and giving treats to the animals. The adults had fun getting to know the horses and the facility too. There was an area of couches for us to eat and celebrate the birthday girl. It is a fantastic place that does great work. We are so grateful to Alex, her team of horse advocates, and the horses themselves.

I've been working at Nestldown in the Therapeutic riding center for a year now. (Once a week.)

I am partnered with a delightful little girl (our student), and a team of attentive, wonderful, competent humans that made that little girl's lesson exactly what it needed to be. There is a really nice level of consistency. We make sure it the same team every week. That is really important with students that are neurodivergent and changes stress them out. I have watched this little girl grow so much, and am always pleased with her smile as she works with us each week. Even if she comes in having had a hard morning, she's always more relaxed and happy when she's done.

Working as a horse handler is great for me as well! I enjoy the activity, know I am helping someone, and am getting out and walking an extra mile or two each week.

In the past two months, I have also become a student. I am now riding once a week, and it makes my heart happy. It is also amazing for my mobility and my state of mind. I have fibromyalgia and often my pain levels limit activity. I am finding I am having an easier time day to day with the increased physical activity. I am even getting sore (in a good- muscle building way!) I'm looking forward to continued lessons in a super comfortable and laid back environment (with the correct level of professionalism so everything seems safe.)

I am so happy I took the chance and checked out Nestldown Therapeutic Riding Center. I cannot recommend this them enough. Thank you all!
