Being a long time member of NAMI Wake and a mental health advocate, I am highly disappointed with them. They are great with their resources, support groups, social media presence, and legislation efforts, but when it comes to helping individuals who do participate in NAMI programs, fundraising, and legislative efforts, they dismiss you. They stop returning your calls, texts, and emails. They only publicly speak out on individual mental health related issues when it is already in the mainstream social media and news. They will not stand up for individuals otherwise. Their slogan "You Are Not Alone" is highly misleading because they will tell you that they cannot help individuals who are alone in their advocacy efforts. They want you to share your story, they want you to advocate to help make a difference, but they will not do anything to help you directly. It's all to benefit them as a whole and their cause, not the individuals who asks for NAMI's support and to stand up for them like they do with highly publicized mental health related issues. They will send emails to donate, but will not donate their time or effort to help individuals. Their slogan of "you are not alone" needs to be changed because you truly FEEL alone in your advocacy efforts.

Amazing mental health education courses and support groups. I am an adult with ADHD, PTSD, and Major Depressive Disorder and NAMI's mindfulness activities, positivity, and compassionate culture supported me through suicidal ideations, depressive lows, high stress during college, and family health issues.
