I was misgendered about 10 times before the receptionist read my ID while I was filling out intake papers, at which point he asked, to be sure, if I go by Sophia. ( my given name )
No apologies about referring to me as he/him/ young gentlemen… then comes the nurse, who has been given my intake papers, with my name, gender, and preferred pronouns in writing. The first question she asks me is not about my crisis but she asked me directly if I was “male to female transgender.” I am not trans and I was so appalled by the inappropriate question - to which the answers were in writing in front of her - that I left immediately. Absolutely inappropriate for someone in a professional setting of any sort, let alone a medical field. Do better.

There is no on-site psychiatrist which is what you would need in a mental health crisis. I took my mom here when she was having a psychotic break, and we waited and waited to see a nurse practitioner who listened to all her delusions and then recommended she make an appointment with a psychiatrist. My mom had been there so long already and was too delusional to do a remote appointment with a psychiatrist because she thought "they" were listening though the computer. The mental health professionals don't realize that this is sometimes a last resort or chance to get family members help. None of the emergency rooms have psychiatric wards in the area and the sheriff won't take them without a 5150. I wish our system was different.

Most of the staff deserve 5 stars, intake staff were really nice and sensitive; excellent therapists; 1 of the male nurses (an on call) snapped at me for not filling out paperwork fast enough. (I can barely handwrite) I talked to the director of the clinic & she was abusive despite not knowing me or being there. I spoke with her superior who listened well and appeared receptive. In the end nothing was done about on-call nurse behavior. This is no way to treat someone in crisis.

They dont actually have a psychiatrist on site, only a nurse practitioner, who you have to wait in a 2 hour long line enable to stand in another 2 hour long line to see. You are literally better off going to the Er.

Workers are lazy and often sit around talking to each other instead of doing there jobs. I would rather have a crisis than go to this place for any amount of time
