Such a cool place in California! I went here for a short walk with my girlfriend on our drive from Mammoth to Tahoe, and it was epic. Nice boardwalk to the lake, parking area, and restrooms available. Very pretty lake and cool tufa! Be sure to stop by, we weren't here for that long but loved it nonetheless

Mono Lake is truly a breathtaking natural wonder! The stillness of the water, contrasted with the distant mountains, feels like time has paused here. The unique tufa towers rise from the lake like nature’s sculptures, a testament to the power of the earth and the passage of time. Being here, you can truly feel the vastness and mystery of nature, with every inch of the landscape radiating a raw, untamed beauty. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to protect and cherish the natural world even more.

This place is not easy to find, but we kept looking and WOW was it worth it!!! Once you arrive at the parking lot it’s about a 15 minute walk down to the water. Watch out for the calling cards left by the wild horses they seem to like the pathway as well!

110% a must stop!!!

Beautiful lake with unique tufas that makes it one of a kind. It was so peaceful there and our group even did a return night trek there to see the stars.

There are a lot of flies at the water's edge so I don't recommend swimming here.

The dirt road off 395 is accessible with most vehicles. Definitely recommend a visit here if you are in the area.

Impressed by how the sea level has dropped over the past decades.
Not a crowded tourist spot when I visited in early Aug.
You can walk a whole loop to enjoy the view or simply walk back and forth from the same path.

In August these yellow flowers are in bloom and it’s my favorite color 😍 I remember seeing this place on National Geographic as a kid and how the enormous amount flies in the area and how seagulls ran along the edge of the water where the flies feed and pretty much keep the mouth open to catch flies while running πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I did not spend enough time here! I will come back and really try to see the whole lake.

Definitely go here! We did a sunset visit, I've read that sunrise is also great time to go.

The tufas are amazing, beautiful formations. Lots to learn about the lake and the area by reading the plaques along the trail.

The flies don't seem to care for or about the humans at all from our experience, so just ignore them and they do the same to you lol...

We stopped in at Navy Beach as well as the south tufa trail, it's another cool spot, very peaceful and remote and the landscape is otherworldly since a lot of it burned in a fire in 2020.
