Milpitas Food Pantry - Milpitas, California

I recently drove my neighbor to a food pantry in Milpitas because she needed assistance during a tough time. We were surprised to find that the Milpitas Food Pantry was open on a Saturday.

Upon arrival, we met Karen, who was in charge. Unfortunately, Karen was unfriendly and prejudged us based on our appearance and the fact that we were carrying small boxes instead of plastic bags. She also appeared controlling by instructing her staff to limit the food given to us. She made untrue assumptions about our previous visits to food pantries. The entire interaction was off-putting. Additionally, Karen mentioned that the volunteers "do a psychic" by randomly placing food in the cart, and she gave us a smirk. None of the random food items (two single bruised bananas, two single serve jams, one individual package of oatmeal, one 16oz bag of rice, one 3.75oz can of sardines, and one package of pasta) complement each other. We wished she had explained the complete process before my neighbor filled out the application and informed us about the amount of food the volunteers would provide. Although the pantry looked organized, the process of determining the amount of food they would provide seemed disorganized and was not what we expected from a place meant to provide genuine help to those in need.

It's unfortunate that this is the only food pantry in the Milpitas area, especially for my neighbor who have been living here for decades. Overall, the experience was disappointing and not worth the drive, and we would not recommend this food pantry to others in need, especially seniors.

Although mainly for families with kids, my dog and myself were gladly accepted by the nice ladies there. Thank you so much! Also came up on some excellent resources!

If you plan on volunteering here, don't! If you arrive even 2 minutes late, the old white karen in the fromt will not let you get hours or volunteer! And they dont even open until 1pm. SAVE YOUR GAS. DO NOY COME HERE.

Friendly staff. I’ve taken some food donations there.
They receive donations and give to any person in need. Kudos for what you do!

Wonderful (but small) local organization. Location serves Milpitas residents, and will help direct you to the correct services in Santa Clara County if you are not actually a Milpitas resident (their resources are allocated for and from the city itself, understandably). The website has plenty of information. Email them if you have questions.

The Ladies that work there are as sweet as the treats they generously provide! I've been going to different food banks since childhood and this place is by far the best/most helpful one. 🙂

They were very friendly. Served me right away. Lots of food enough to last almost a full month. Very carouse enjoyed there friendliness. Will return again...

There is a sign that is visable from the street but The Food Pantry is all the way in the back of the parking lot. Not a lot of parking.
