If anyone has been scammed by Merced County Child support please contact an attorney! I lost custody of my child a few years ago to cps, my sister was granted custody through the courts. However, now I owe child support that I lost all parental rights to! I am unemployed & live out of state with 2 other children. I was informed today that Merced county child support will be taking my tax refund due to back child support payments. However they took DOUBLE of what’s owed! I owe $2,100 & they took $4,200 which is all of my tax refund. I am now filing a lawsuit because I shouldn’t have to pay child support after losing custody, they took double the amount that’s owed & they always give me the run around and never return calls or answer the phone!

Complete lack of professionalism, knowledge of cases or empathy for the past actions of those in this office.

KEEP NOTES of every interaction you have! These case workers are overworked & will lie or provide improper info in concerns to your case.

IF YOU have a problem with a rude case worker or manager, you CAN COMPLAIN TO THE OMBUDSMAN for child support! Google will not let me post the number but you have the right to complain for bad customer service (amongst other things). The director of the child support office has to investigate your complaint & respond within 30 days.

So, if your case worker is making your life h**l, be sure to return the favor!

The call and harass me every couple of weeks to tell me about changes requested to be made this isn’t the first time they’ve done this nor will it be the last.
They then proceeded to open up a case and had my check garnished and when I went to court the judge couldn’t make them give back the mo why they had already taken but forced them to repay the tax money they took from me illegally.
The workers will call and harass you and not even have any of the information correct

Child support is a scam in America they will take money from the child no matter the amount and like their own pockets so if you’re paying 300 into the system the child will see 50 bucks if that

I talked to a supervisor by the name of Maria to get things taken care of and handled or so I thought turns out 3-4 weeks of waiting on a phone call they decide to ignore everything they had told me and did things the way they want.
They don’t care about children they care about money

Every 2 or 3 months, I get a new representative in charge of my case, the ladies treat you like you owe them the child support obligations, and they pretend for you to know how this unfair and broken system works. They will repeat endlessly times that they can't make any modifications unless there's a court order in place. I got plenty of court orders, and still, they failed to follow them and yet get all rude at me. My attorney even advised me to go in person and ask for an audit because he couldn't understand what they do inside this office. Very unprofessional and incompetent personnel.

If possible to give negative stars I WOULD . These people are so unprofessional. Never give a call back in timely matter . When they do call you back they are extremely RUDE . People uneducated. They really need to get people that want to work . I get better treatment from McDonald's then here . These people should get FIRED ASAP. I still don't understand how you pay whatever is owed for child support and it doesn't reflect but if you owe the interest keeps getting higher and higher . Called to make an adjustment and the lady there basically harassed me saying that it was going to go up higher because by law I have to be making "x" amount of money . This place should be shut down . Don't help for anything they just threaten you saying they are going to put you in jail

Our government can send 500 billion to Ukraine but they can't afford to make a payment system where your payment goes through in 24 hours or less? Pathetic. I can't control if the stupid payment system takes too long

I had called to discuss my status of employment with my case worker. I had been hung up on by a receptionist worker, because I was denied my case workers email, seeing how email was the fasted and easiest means of communication for me. This is not a professional establishment. I am embarrassed to even call this place again, but if I want to handle business, I am reluctant to do so.

Place is a joke. They give you a new phone number to call, then the prompt says to enter a pass code. What pass code? Y'all need to fix this.
