I used this facility as an emergency cooling center on 07/25/24 when the temperature climbed to at least 108°F and my vehicle's AC quit.
I couldn't go home on account of my temp job, and the very primitive camp site that I was staying at had no water.
The staff were nothing less then wonderful that day.
And one of them might possibly have saved my life by telling me about the facilities for the gym and the shower 🚿.

I needed to take an assessment for a scholarship I wanted. When I got to the library immediately sat down at the computers. A man had his phone loudly ringing the first 15 minutes of my test. The entire time the librarians were loudly speaking and letting children scream through the entire library..very rude. I would hardly call it a library.

Every visit is such a pleasant experience for me. The staff always greet people with a smile and are quick to help in any way.
My most recent visits were with an energetic 4 yo and even he commented on how nice they were.

Wow, best book selection ever. I come from California library systems and the budget and donations are no where near as good as here. Watching the staff work with the kids and adults is amazing . They have great intuition and discernment. You can borrow laptops or use the very advanced touch screen computers up front. Scanning documents on the rapid feeder scanners takes seconds and it is free. Tons of audio books and first run movies. All free to borrow . The sci fi section alone blows me away. These librarians do more in that small library than has ever been accomplished in my hometown library and it is 10 times larger. Quality not quantity and the joy they share is what makes Watford City’s library an adventure every time you visit, not to mention Nate’s free computer classes or the DMV testing and education classes in the Sanford room. Just go see and say hello and have a seat by Dolly Parton and relax .

This library staff is excellent! The library itself is a good size, and is very clean. The computer stations are always pretty busy, but so is the town itself. I would like to see them go to an online system. A way for us to renew our items, and search for new ones.

This is a library built for the town of 1500, pre-boom, not the town of nearly 10,000 we have now. I'd love to see them invest in a bigger facility or would have incorporated a new library at the high school, as the selection is pretty small outside of mainstream fiction.

Regardless, the staff is awesome and always helpful. I was always able to set up proctoring for online courses within a couple days.
