I truly thought I was helping a family out last year by connecting them with Toys for Tots. However, I soon learned how ineffective it truly is. When the family went to pick up the toys on pick up day, the line was literally a mile long. The line of people wrapped around the building at least twice. That you expect people with small children to wait in a line that long for that many hours is ludacris. Material items are not more important than the stress and drama that standing in line for that many hours would cause. So when you donate all those toys to Toys for Tots thinking they are going to go to deserving children, just remember that those children had to wait for 3 hours in line on the street in order to get them, if at all. I'm almost of the belief that the Marines are simply doing it as a marketing ploy.

For the past 12 of 15 years we've hosted a Toys 4 Tots party at our home. We've been told we collect the largest number of toys of any house party in the county. This year we collected 168 very nice toys from our generous guests. It over fills 5 of their large collection boxes. The problem happens EVERY year after our toy party. The Marines commit to picking up the toys and every year it's a fight to get them to do so. This year we've made 3 appointments, left work, etc. to meet them and as always they are no shows and no calls. Every year a different person is in charge and every year it is the same. We get that it's voluntary, but if you're going to volunteer and make commitments shouldn't you keep them? How does that reflect on the Marines? So frustrated with them every year. I wish a different organization would take the helm. If we didn't like the idea of kids getting presents so much, we would have chosen a different charity long ago. Sign me still waiting for them to pick up the toys.......

Love love that our USMC are so busy daily yet make great effort to give toys to the truly NEEDY children! π₯° May God watch them while in danger & Bless them for their Kindness! I buy for them! Radyβs BTW is NOT A NON PROFIT HOSPITAL- they charge an arm & a leg for services - not helpful if parents cannot afford a Share of cost with insurance & turn kids away. I know i am a local RN

What a great charity! As though our Wonderful Marines arenβt doing enough- they give back for those children in need at Christmas π please drop off any new toy for them.
Itβs fun to shop for children who will truly- appreciate their gifts π

Something is wrong with this address. I tried to deliver some toys and I ended up lost. Google maps takes you to a military facility with limited access
