I thought about posting this multiple times, but my boyfriend had found puppies at a park so I went to go get them because we cannot leave them there. I didn’t want to go to my local animal shelter because I know there are kill zone and I just cannot live with that. So we were told to take them here. The problem is when I got there. I told them the truth, but I was treated like if I were the one who had left them on the side of the road, I was being talked to really rude, and I was really uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I’m used to being talked to this way because of the color of my skin. I was being scolded about taking them there when all I wanted to make sure that happened was that the puppies were safe. I was just being yelled at about now if the owners want to find them, they can’t because they’re in a different County. Why would I want them to find the dogs when I left them on the side of the road in a basket? Regardless, we went outside. They looked at the dogs. My boyfriend was there his lighter skin than me. They were so nice to him. I just went in the car because I wanted to cry because of the way I was being talked to. It’s important that the dogs were fine and they were put up for adoption. I just don’t think that just being my first time and not knowing what to do that I had to be talked to the way I was talked to inside.

Just may be the best Humane Society in the country! Huge staff, both paid and volunteer. Gorgeous facility, with large and extensive grounds. One of the best financially endowed humane societies in the country. Full of love and goodwill, and lots of potential pets for your happy home! Ongoing educational and socializing activity for you and your family of people and pets!

I really cannot express how much we appreciate the relationship we have with Marine Humane.

There is so much care and attention that is taken not only to find us potential rescue bunnies but to ensure that they are fully acclimated to their new environment here. We live in a remote area, so this means the team gets in the car and drives over 2-3 hrs to bring us the bunnies and then spends additional hours on property getting them situated.
We have had some amazing experiences as well as our challenges and losses and each time Marine Humane is there.

When we adopt from Marine Humane we know this is not just an exchange that is over once we have the animal. Marine Humane is there for the entire journey and that makes a huge difference in the lives and experience of these animals (and ours too). We are so grateful, with a special shout out to Suzanne Gollin, Paula, and Christine from The Small Animal Adoption team.

The ilk that runs this place are a disgraceful. This place has no real concern for animals in peril. Do Not Believe Their Hype!! The ASPCA allowed 2 healthy horses die in a field after the owners were arrested for, of course, drug activity. They threw angry/arrogant attitudes at me over the phone. The horses died, a huge hole was dug, and a bulldozed pushed them in the whole. They were skin/bones! Yes!

I found a stray and was lied to repeatedly by two women at this site in Marin! It was AWFUL! Their story kept changing according to what I asked, or said. First, the receptionist said they found the owner and that he told her once the animal ran away he assumed it would never come back and he didn't bother to look for it. She said he just let it go. The "director", who took an immediate disliking to me as soon as I said that I wanted to keep the pet, "IF THE OWNER DIDN'T WANT IT." She immediately began reprimanding me like I was a FELON in the interrogation room at the PD! She was out of control, ridiculous, yelling at me, stating the Do's and Dont's of keeping a stray, just like I was an ignorant criminal with no clue! If I had no clue I wouldn't have called them!! Right?! I thought to myself, "Is this woman a drug user, on drugs!?". She said she'd call me back. I again told her I wanted to keep the pet, especially because of what the receptionist had told me. She again started in on me!

She finally called back, with the same nasty attitude, but she said that the man had come in crying, that he had posted signes all over the area where I found the cat, in an attempt to find her! That's NOT AT ALL WHAT THE RECEPTIONIST HAD SAID! IT WAS A FLAT OUT LIE.

It was NOT a valuable pet, it was just a common little animal, of no cash value! No pedegree!

I told this so called "director" what the receptionist had said, and that I worked in the area and had NEVER seen 1 poster for a lost animal in that area! I work between 2 One Way streets! I go UP one to get to work, make a left down another street then back the other way at the end of my work day. So it entails 3 streets, and it's a long stretch of road. I repeat, there were NEVER any signs/posters!

This "director" ORDERED ME TO SURRENDER the pet, upon threat of legal action against me, in a nasty, super nasty, manner. I'm in my mid SEVENTIES!

The owner probably had his hands full with 2 kittens and just let the one I found go! After I surrendered the pet I could hear the SAME MEOW across the highway. It had a very distinct meow! I heard it for the entire 8 months that I tried to capture the little animal and suddenly it's coming from where I can't reach it because I worked nights and when I went to the property where I could hear it, it wasn't near any structures, like where I found her. It was all overgrown, open land. To get back where I could hear her I had to go over a high chai. Link fence. No one was ever around! I believe the man took possession of the kitty, and disposed of her not too far from where he lived, across the highway! It was a very rambunctious little animal, it would jump up on me, climb on me, run around all over, and I think it was too much trouble for him. And, he had the other one! It broke my heart, to the core, to leave the little pet when my job ended there, and I was assigned a new site. Do not donate and money or anything to this place! They can donate their own money! You don't know how many times the drop the ball. Like when we reported the abuse of ducks at that Petaluma duck farm! The workers were throwing live ducks into the boiling water!

DO YOU THINK THEY EVER WENT OUT TO THE FARM TO INVESTIGATE? NO! NO!

Several of the female farm workers at the duck farm in Petaluma had called us, at their job site Union, where I worked at the time, to report the abuse. All we got was a NASTY, ARROGANT, MAN AT THE MARIN ASPCA!! RUDE! YELLING AT US!

WHY?! DRUG ABUSE?
