My wife and I had hair follicles done for DHR and when our results came back we were both positive for methamphetamines. We both knew the results was not correct because we have been taking drug test for almost a year with over 30 drug test and all of ours has been negative. We were questioned by DHR about any medication that we might have been taking that would’ve caused us to fail. The only thing we had taken was cold medicine during the time of the test. So we decided to go and have a secondary test done just days later at a doctors office in Cullman. When our test came back, we were both completely negative. OK now fast-forward two months and we had lifelinks come out to our house with DHR and administer urine screens on both of us. We both tested negative. Then three days later, we get approached by DHR saying that my wife failed for methamphetamines when the urine screen went to the lab and that they were going to take our kids because of it. Once again we knew something was wrong. We knew the results were not correct. I took my wife up to the same clinic that I took her to the last time and had another hair follicle done and when the results came back, it was completely negative once again. So twice in three months, my wife and I had false drug test results from lifelinks that allowed DHR to make wrong decisions in our case. Our kids were taken from us. It is very suspicious that we are having to do secondary testing because the results from lifelinks are not correct. Especially when DHR is using these results to make decisions in cases.

Amy and her staff go above and beyond and truly love children. I never have to wonder about a visit because they communicate so well. The facility is clean and feels like a home. I think that is important to the kids while they are visiting.

I have my own two children (13 & 10) and two children in my care which are my 13-year-old niece and 6-month-old nephew. I am not happy about them closing at 5pm and scheduling the children in my care for a visit with parents from 5pm-7pm which means we have to sit outside in this heat for 2 hours and one of those hours I have a baby. I think if visits are until 7pm your lobby should be open until 7pm. The people that graciously take children into their homes are not going to mistreat anything in the office in the first place. Let me add I was told, not nicely, today we cannot even sit on the porch and told after the visit it was a misunderstanding and that I could change the visit to a time they are open but people do work and have other things going on. There should be a better plan in place for the caregivers instead of just the parents getting the privilege of sitting in the AC or Heat when winter gets here. Just a thought for everyone reading this! As you can tell I am not happy about the way I was treated today when I am just trying to do the right thing and take care of my niece and nephew until their parents can get custody back. For someone who considered Fostering, it will not happen for this family because of all the mess we have had to deal with.
