Good people doing great work, but pretty heavy handed. Not very inspiring or uplifting. You are actually treated pretty poorly. I found it to be overall, demoralizing and I felt degraded for coming, every time I came for food. I miss Sam though and a few other people, but not really anybody else. Nobody really smiles or is very kind and that's a shame. In fact, they won't even really speak to you. It is a weird place.

Lemon Grove Lutheran Church is comprised of 2 congregations. The first is an ELCA Lutheran congregation that has a traditional Lutheran service at 9:00 am and a progressive theology. The second is an Independent Gospel congregation that has a contemporary gospel service at 10:30 am and has conservative theology. This congregation was originally started as a Samoan congregation but has since become more divergent. The two congregations have the largest feeding ministry within San Diego county, providing food to more than 300 families twice each month. In addition, there is a weekly 5:00 pm Monday community soup supper. Both congregations are warm and welcoming to new people.

The people at the Church are elderly. Covid19 closed down the Church for a year or more and attendance is down from the last time I came to visit. Possibly due to the time change with daylight savings time. No one passed away due to the Covid19 virus. I was happy to hear that information.
