I was assisted by Irene. Very respectful and I can't speak to how busy they are, but it can be difficult to get a hold of your case manager. I would say if you're in need of help, be at the computer ready to apply early and just upload the bare minimum docs (ID, lease, anything) and SUBMIT! They'll ask for additional docs that day or the next. Be aware that the entire process can take up to 6 weeks, I was approved within 4 and the deposit wont be available to my landlord for 1-2 weeks after the fact. You CAN be helped though. If you're in need I would definitely just apply and not pay attention to negative reviews. Your situation could work out just fine

They do the bare minimum to help people actually going through stuff. I was pretty much told I have to be homeless for 3 months before they can help me. So me and my kids have to survive in my car until November then I can apply again. Waste of my time! And Irene pretty much judged me for not being on foodstamps etc. Told me I should move back with my abuser so we’ll have a home.

Kind enough workers, just very difficult to get a timely response or even talk to whoever is supposed to do scheduling for making an appointment. I almost never get an email back from my VSO these days, but he was responsive a long while ago. Not sure what has changed...

I understand these guys are very likely overworked so they get the benefit of the doubt, but that only goes so far.

Can't never get on the website, click off in the middle of application, say they only take 20 ppls how when I can't get on the website and get message saying this site is no longer available and twice it tried to submit paper work and the site said error couldn't sent and it was frozen and when to click on it it disappear.

Waste of Floridian tax dollars and any other funds given to this department! Shame on State of Florida for not investigating on how these employees of the State are treating elders and people who are in need and reach out to the services that MUST be provided by law to them!

This place is the only place for help. My family and I have been homeless and my husband with stage 4 cancer. Every program sends u to coordinated entry for housing but they tell your not homeless if u are staying at hospice with your husband. My kids are separated at friends houses for temporary but yet they aren’t considered homeless.

Go up
