I really contemplated not leaving this review, but I think the honesty may help someone else. Keeping in mind that this is a nonprofit organization, the best thing about this service is that it is grant based and cost nothing for the patient. With that said, that is the issue. My child was seen here for 4 years. During that time she had 4-5 different therapist. Having to repeat her trauma each time. She graduated from high school and started college and they dropped her. I spoke with several people, begging them not to do that. I was told that the last therapist (who is now gone) said that she no longer needed the services. WRONG! I told her and anyone who would listen that my child DOES NEED HELP and to please do not do this to her. She was promised that she could stay until March to allow time to find another place to be seen. Even if that meant starting over yet again.

In December they just cut her off. Now this is supposed to be a professional place that assists with mental health and they just dropped a patient who very much needed them. We called and emailed and all of a sudden the niceness was gone and these people became a complete nightmare to deal with.

After a month they decided to finally acknowledge her request. At this point she has gone through so much because of THEM. Her emotions are everywhere. Her trust in this system is gone. She needed help from them and was refused to be seen, stating that her grant ran out. WHAT ABOUT HER LIFE!!! Nothing was done for my child! NOTHING AT ALL!!!

I called and told them she was in a bad place mentally and absolutely no one cared. They promised to call back (many times) and didn't. She ended up getting a rejection email from them (instead of calling her back) that made things so much worse. She ended up having to go to her doctor for emergency treatment. Thankfully I saw that she was not doing well and was able to intervene. If it was left up to these people this story could have had a much different outcome.

This place is unbelievable. Save yourself and pay for the help you need. Especially if you are suffering or suicidal. This is not the mental health assistance that you need. They do better when crisis is not involved. Call for emergency assistance and do not hesitate to keep looking until you find someone who cares about you. YOU ARE LOVED!!!

Kellin is a great organization; I can't fully describe how much my councillor, Elizabeth Buie, helped me get through a very dark time in my life. Even before her, Ms. Lee & Ms. Nancy walked me through the process of getting a therapist, and were always there to answer my questions with directness and compassion.
Unfortunately, I eventually required more help than Kellin was able to offer, but I will never forget how much they helped me. ❤
