The staff was friendly. It is convenient since I work on base. I do wish they were open on the weekend. The policy of not processing trailer rentals after 4, even though they are open until 6 is a bit odd and inconvenient. I don't get off work until 4.

Lots of great items to rent. But some things are getting expensive, especially rv storage lots. Staff is great, though definitely under staffed.

Sometimes we rent a few items from here for camp or our fishing trips. They are usually friendly and eager to help. They’re informative when I call with questions as well. I took away a star due to very few items that have had missing pieces/parts. Also, there are rare occasions where they can be slow and avoid customers. Check everything thoroughly before you go off on your outdoor trip because the last thing you want is to find missing items when they’ve already closed or you’re already a few hours drive away.

Pretty solid rental place, but fails on the marine side. Can’t rent a boat until 0930. By the time you get out of there it’s 10am. Almost all decent fishing grounds (ocean) are at least 3.5-5hrs away. We got our boat at 10 on Friday, drove 4 hours to Homer, put the boat in the water and motored to the fishing grounds(another 1.5 hours). That put us at about 6 hours (4pm)just to get fishing. Now here is your biggest dilemma; do you fish longer hours and drive back tired? Or fish for a couple hours so you can drive back with energy. This is all of course if you rent the boat for just one day. But even if you rent multiple days, your first days rental you end up spending more time driving and putting the boat in and out of the water than you actually spend on the water. I understand there is nothing the outdoor rec can do to fix drive time, but they have options.
When a boat is returned they leave the day after vacant so they can prep and maintain every boat before it gets rented again(actually a great practice). Here is where my issue is; this means the boat is just sitting in the lot from 6pm-930am the next day. Why not let a renter pick it up(if ready of course) the evening before so they can either get in the road that evening or leave at 5am like most of us fishiest like to do. I understand there might be delays if the boat is still being worked on, but the majority of all know this is the case and are more than willing to wait later that evening if needed. Anything is better than having to wait until 10am to get I the road no matter how many days you’ve rented. At the least just open the office earlier to customers (employees are already at work at 8am) who are renting ocean boats. Help us deep sea fishers out!

They have good quality and serviceable gear to hire. I borrowed some waders, fishing rod and net to catch the salmon at Bird creek. Plenty of tourist information available and discounts for some trips. You can get your fishing licences from here.

I rented 4 mountain bikes for my family. $15/bike/day which is a great price, but you get what you pay for. They have a lot of bikes, but mostly small and medium frame sizes; the largest available was a "M/L" which was a bit small for my 6 ft self, but worked fine for what it was. Very few kid bikes available. In adult size, both regular and fatty mountain bikes were available. I got regular mtbs. The bikes are 20 speed with 10 gears in back but only 2 small chainrings up front, so high gears not really available. The bikes are not in excellent condition nor that well maintained, I had to try several to find one that was acceptable. Even on the most acceptable one, the brakes would bind and the gearshifting was not well adjusted, requiring me to do some work. The bikes were also pretty dirty and when I inquired about that, was told if I didn't like it there was a hose out front I could use to rinse it off. So this sounds like a bad review, but I will still give 4 stars because the bikes are light, relatively good performing, and if you are handy enough to make the minor needed adjustments you can't beat the price. Will use again.
