I have been contacted twice about my father's dog. She's a good dog but she wonders the neighborhood and my neighbors are complaining (rightfully so) I have told both officers to collect the dog. I was out of town when they called the second time and told me I would be getting a ticket and I told him to collect the dog. I was told to come back to Statesville and get the dog. I told him that wasn't going to happen so I was told that if I surrender the dog he would tear up the ticket and I said come and get her. Today when I got home I called them to get the dog removed and I was told I would keep getting tickets when my neighbors complain. I explained I'm having neck surgery in a week and will not be physically able to handle the dog so please come and get her. I was then told I have to go on line and fill out a form of surrender for them to get the dog (now that's the first I heard about a form) I asked, so your going to continue to write me tickets after my neighbors have complained and I have asked that the dog be removed and I was told yes. What part of that makes sense? I have now asked 3 times that the dog be removed and that I will be physically enable to handle the dog.

This is by far the most amazing, compassionate, animal control around aside from PAR!! God Bless everyone who is a part of either team! Statesville is phenomenal to my Lucky!
My Lucky, he was the only survivor from his mom’s litter of pups. Immediately named him Lucky!
He would go to the church up the street from us every weds. and Sunday and one of the members would bring him home in their vehicle. One Weds. He wasn’t so Lucky, he wouldn’t hurt a fly but one of our neighbors didn’t want him coming to visit their dog and they called the humane society! They picked him up , came to see me and I didn’t have the money to pay his fees $189.00
If I knew my neighbors dog I certainly wouldn’t call the pound I would take their friend home if it was bothering me.
Haven’t spoken to them since!!!

IF I COULD GIVE YALL A ZERO I WOULD!!!!
I had an interaction with them about 4-5 months ago, I had brought in a female Pit who had walked up to my house from the house behind me, she was incredibly small, she was abused for breeding, and she had a skin condition around her tail/butt, so I had her taken in so she could go HOPEFULLY to a good home.
I pulled into my driveway 2 days ago and that same pit bull is sitting in my yard, this time with a collar.
The collar had rubbed her neck raw and she has worse spots on her butt/tail now, I don’t think they did anything for the poor girl, I mean hell YALL SENT HER BACK TO HER ABUSERS!!
Got a call from one of the officers there and I showed him these pictures, said nothing was wrong.
He didn’t even bother to stop by my house and see this girl was covered in fleas, countless bugs flying around her, and when I put out some water for her she had drank like she’s never seen water in her life.
Y’all don’t care about animals and it shows. I don’t know who lives in the house behind me but y’all should’ve put them on a watchlist because this is not the first time they’ve been abusing animals.
But whatever, I guess. There was no sympathy showed towards this dog from the animal control officer.
If anything bad happens to this dog because of those horrible owners, it’s yall’s fault.

This is the first night in his new home! Tyson (aka T-bone) is loving his new bed! As soon as we got him out of the shelter, he was a COMPLETELY different dog. He warmed up to me almost immediately in the car. So far, so good. The staff really told me about him and let me know if I had any concerns to call. He is loving his new home!

We adopted from PetSmart actually but they had fixed the cat gave it all at shots put a chip in it and everything and it only cost $20! We absolutely loved our kitten 🐈 Rimey is my whole life!!I love him so much and I'm so glad we got him!

Adopted Karma from the pound a few years back. She is so smart, eager to learn and very loving.
She was approximately a year old then and now can't imagine not having her around.
As for the shelter and the Employees there, I have so much admiration and sympathy for them as they have to face how irresponsible breeders and cruel society cause the issues of overcrowded shelters.
I encourage everyone who is looking to first stop in your local shelter.
Please don't support irresponsible breeders and report cruel owners.

I don't think animal control employees do their job. I have called about dogs not being on leashs. The man told me to get the name of the owners of the dogs, and I ask him going to give his paycheck for doing his job. I have pictures of the owners and the dogs not leashs. I thought there was a leash law in the city.

It has been such a horrible experience and nightmare dealing with Iredell County Animal Shelter due very poor information, dishonesty and bias, from some of staff members, especially the, volunteer, They that I was low-income, and a senior, I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT CAT HEATH, and was told that I will placed on the list for the volunteer, never received a call until I went in person and filled out paperwork..I had been emailing and called several times for help since April 2024...Each time given different information on vaccines and spaying, and surrendering, even being told by, to my knowledge, the unqualified, volunteer that cats, that I raised were not adoptable, which reflects on the cat owners or the people raising them, I must be a terrible pet owner, because I was told my cats were not adoptable, which was not true, I feel that the volunteer was accessing me, not my cats, she was not even interacting with them ...One of the cats got hit by a car, which could have been placed in a home, one that I wanted to adopt and get spayed died of what I believe was Distemper, she a tragic horrible painful death, that could have been prevented,, now the black cat, that I got spayed has Distemper,...I am terribly upset, because I surrender a homelessness a dying sick feral cat to the Animal Control, and I asked if they would tell what the kill cat, the employee said "NO" ....I had known, or been properly informed, I could done something, because the cats are catching Distemper, there was a total of 13, which one kitten killed by a car, and kitten died of Distemper..includes 3 feral one now Deceased, of Distemper, one, as of this writing spayed now dying of Distemper...When I paid for the spayings no one mentioned getting distemper shots, not even the volunteer, who was helping me...I have end up paying more money, with my low income to see a doctor just to get Distemper shots, when all of this could have been done, I asked several times about getting Distemper shots, and was told by staff and the volunteer that only DOCTORS CAN GIVE DISTEMPER SHOTS... They have no listing or posting of the services offered anywhere in the building or pricing so that TAXPAYERS CAN SEE WHAT THEY ARE OFFERING AND PAYING FOR, THE DESK AGENS DO NOT TELL YOU YOU HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT..The need a Full Time VETERINARIAN, NOT JUST TECHS IR VOLUNTEERS...Why do they not have staff to give the required shots for adoption? This makes no sense, the are a GOVERNMENT AGENCY...They need to consider DEFUNDING THESES PROGRAMS AND DEFUND GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, THEY ARE ALWAYS A PROBLEM..WE SHOULD JUST GO TO PRIVATE BUSINESSES...WHY FUND THIS MESS...
