I scheduled a spay for my dog. In the confirmation email, drop off time is listed as 7-8am. I showed up a little after 7am. The door to the clinic was locked. On the door, they have a notice saying drop off is at 7:15-8am which is inconsistent with what they advise in the appointment confirmation email. I waited outside. At 7:20, a staff member came outside and asked for my dog’s name. They didn’t say anything else and went back inside. I waited outside in the cold for about 15 more minutes, nobody came outside to call us in. I eventually decided to leave. When I left, one of the staff called me and I told them I had been waiting outside for over 20 minutes. She lied to me and said “we told you to come in.” Nobody ever told me to come inside. While I was waiting, they checked in two other people who had showed up after me and ignored me while my dog and I waited outside in the cold. If this is how they’re treating me, I can only imagine how they treat the animals when nobody’s looking. I told the staff member I no longer feel comfortable having them perform surgery on my dog and left. I drove all the way here from Thousand Oaks at 6am only to be treated like dirt by your staff.

I've been coming here for 20 years and always had such a wonderful experience until now. This is to review the rabies vaccine events held on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm. They say they'll serve anyone there by 2 over the phone, but insist the later you get there, that they cannot guarantee how fast they can serve you. I drove an hour for a $15 dollar vaccine promise, only just to get turned away when I arrived at 1:30 pm. I expressed to management that it took me an hour to drive so why did they say they would serve pets until 2 pm, and they're excuse was they didn't anticipate so many people would show up. So I wasted my time, my gas and my sanity due to mismanagement. Then to boot, the brunette at the door was extremely rude about it, no apologies at all.

I recommend Cottage Hospital in Oxnard. Their event goes until 3 pm on Saturdays, and they serve anyone who gets there by 3 pm.

I called to have my mixed dachshund/chewiener fixed. Said I didn't qualify as it wasn't a dog typically found in a shelter. Apparently, I need to have a pitbull? I've always have had my dogs fixed here but I guess that isn't the case anymore. Less than helpful.

I took all four of my kittens here and they were very prompt to return my call when I did call to schedule spay and neuter appointment. When I picked up my cats, they seem to be in a good mood and not scared or frightened where they had just been, they were so kind and helpful and very informative.

I scheduled my Female Bully to be spayed at the Humane Society in Ojai, 3 weeks ago. There was a backlog because she weighed over 50 lbs. (59 lbs). She is a bully and short and stocky. My previous vet at 101 vets, said her weight and body mass were normal for her breed.
This am, I went to her scheduled appt, and was checking her in. One of the techs announced to the front desk that my dog was obese and looked as if she has recently given birth, without any prior history. When I told her she is only a year old, and has not had any puppies, she said “have them sign a waiver.” We agreed to sign the waiver. While weighing our dog, the Front desk assistant kept pushing my dog with her foot and telling her to STAY, while yanking on her collar. My dog had gained 1 lb since the appt was scheduled and I was quoted $175 for dogs weighing 50-80 lbs. We were informed that they would be adding on $50-$125 due to her “obesity.”
Forward to this afternoon when I picked my dog up. I was charged an additional $75 because they said my dog was “still in heat.” Her last heat ended on April 1. When I brought this to the Front Desk Asst attention, her only response was “ you’d be surprised!” I would be surprised! I thought the Humane Society was a not for profit organization. I feel betrayed, preyed on, and disgusted by the treatment of my dog. She is a professionally trained service animal. I feel like due to her “breed”, we were subjected to unfair charges, and disrespect from the staff. O/10… would not recommend.

I scheduled an appointment for my dog to get spayed and the next available appointment was two months out which I didn’t mind. The day of the surgery they wouldn’t take my dog in because she had been in heat less than a month ago so it was too recent. No one had ever mentioned that on the phone with me. I had to be sent home and rescheduled the appointment for the next month. I understand we got sent home for the safety of my dog but it would have been nice to find out sooner than later because Ojai is a bit of a commute for me.
