Their impact on the community is monumental. The way they go to schools in East Oakland free of charge to teach kids how to hip hop for the soul purpose of empowering them to use their self express to make change in the world and in their own lives is truly inspiring. Their grassroots program is full of so many dedicated, thoughtful, and kind souls who put with so much in order to educate the community and raise funds to keep these programs free. While the concept and target goals of this organization is the best thing ever conceived.... the leadership, execution of the mission and PROPER representation in administration is grossly lacking. Has been for years. Dont be fooled by the work put in by the street team who happen to be the most authentic part of the organization. In depth hip hop knowledge and culture is seriously lacking due to being implemented by people who only know hip hop as a culture via music, nothing about the lifestyles of oppression and the will to persevere on that created and evolved what represents so many people and their history. That has been forgotten and shunned. Most of these people see it as a genre with sub-genres and fail to see why that makes zero sense. I just hope in its restructure it isnt fully gentrified and becomes whigger hop for change
