Back in late November/early December I was looking to adopt a beagle. Luckily I came across, my now current one, through Petsmart. Marylin was quick to reach out to me and answered questions I had about him and walked me through the adoption process. I was able to meet my beagle at his foster and take him home in a fairly time manner. As the other reviewer pointed out (Tammy) the pets are rescued from inhumane conditions overseas, so the adoption price was on the higher end ($700 for me). And honestly I don't regret the higher price knowing what the animals went through. It's been only about 5 months with my rescued beagle, but I feel like I've known him my who life.

To the person who said they lied about being 501c(3). They are actually 501c(3) approved - Tax ID# 84-2669499

I recently adopted an adorable cat from Hi 5 Dog Rescue, an organization primarily focused on dogs but also accommodating cats.

The adoption process was quick and efficient. I discovered my cat through the PetSmart adoption page, which led me to Hi 5 Dog Rescue. After a phone call with Marilyn, she provided me with information about the cat's temperament and background. Marilyn also shared videos and pictures of the cat, and invited me to visit in person the next day to meet her and complete the adoption application. It was important for us to meet the cat beforehand to assess compatibility. Following the meeting, we were given the green light to adopt, and the next step was the payment process.

Payment was facilitated through Paypal, with an adoption fee of $800. The higher price can be attributed to the fact that the cat was rescued from overseas, which incurs costs between $290 and $590. Additionally, there are expenses related to paperwork, vaccinations, fostering, and providing necessary items for the cat, such as food and a carrier. While I would have preferred a slightly lower price, I acknowledge that local adoption centers typically charge $200-300, which includes vaccinations. Considering the breed of my cat is generally expensive, the adoption fee can be seen as reasonable. It's worth noting that adoption prices would likely be reduced if the animals were rescued locally. These cats/dogs were rescued from China from an inhumane environment so they are going into loving homes in the US. Thus travel fees I mentioned + fees that I mentioned earlier is why the cost is high.

Overall, the experience with Hi 5 Dog Rescue, Marilyn, and Frieda was positive. Our cat has quickly bonded with us, and we are delighted with our decision to adopt her. In the future, we hope to volunteer as foster caregivers for cats once we gain more confidence as first-time pet owners.

Run by rude women who will judge you for the slightest thing. Also lying about being 501c3.
Avoid! Better rescues exist.
